Chrysler now taking orders for Peapod NEV, or so we hear

Yesterday's Earth Day event marked the start of Peapod Mobility officially accepting orders (online only) for the Peapod neighborhood electric vehicle. Well, that's was the word on the street, anyway as USA Today mentioned this week and we said in our post when we visited the Peapod Mobility office earlier this month. A quick glance at the Peapod Mobility website today, though, doesn't reveal any way to actually put your name down, except for an email information list. What's the deal? You'd think Chrysler wouldn't want to limit any potential income sources these days, but what do I know about running a car company. We've put in a call to Peapod to see what the deal is and will let you know if we hear anything. For now, we can remind anyone who's interested in plunking down $12,500 or so that the Peapod is a zero tailpipe emission, 25 mph top speed, 30-mile range NEV.

Perfect for those who want to impress everyone of their "greenness", but not much good for anything else, and way pricey for what you get.

This is a new trend, ordering in advance a new theoric car through internet and give a little cash in advance then when the time come the compagny don't show up and if it show up then 95% of the consumers cansel the deal, LOL. Did you see a new compagny selling a new battery car making profit with regular consumer, no... Think, imiev, tesla, volt, etc are just pr campain proposing a new 'corpse' instead of a new car( 4 wheels with cabin moving forward on the road) . This big confusion is because of the old prayers of jesus now coming for real( a civilisation with human corpses that can buy cars in shopping centers for few cash). Since that prayer that happen 85 billions years ago, many peoples are paniking seeing it coming true and they expect big changes on all counts on everything. The history of the world is this story since 85 billions years ago. I say to stop the panic, put one water powered car on sale in my town, stop these stupid subsidies and just wait my reactions after one day of ownership, i will write it. As for others buy and sell what you want, it's your buying bids.
The only way to understand communism and the history of this planet since 2009 years ago is this story.: everyones expect a new plentiful life when i will buy my car in a jewish ( me i wish in english) shopping center.

This thing looks like you can drive it right on the compost after use...
I thought Tesla proofed that electric cars don't have to be ugly.
Looks a bit like the 2CV from the 70s

Yes the range and speed are disappointing, I guess thats the silly nev rules, we really need to loosen that up, there should simply be highway and non highway vehicles, the main killer in accidents is speed (and stupidity), lets face it reckless high speed/drunk/ young drivers are the real danger on roads, and they dont buy NEV's so why should NEV buyers be limited?? lets limit other cars to 75mph and speed up NEV's to 55mph, Americans have shown a continued thirst for large wasteful status symbols that needs to be halted, and I suppose newer cars are a bit better, we need to have a buyback thing for V8's that what we should do, anybody whose driving a nineties SUV or truck would probably like something lighter and more efficient and we can crush all those Explorers, Jimmys, expeditions etc

Ordering? Really? The website suggests you can express interest but where is the dealer network? Where is the feature list beyond the over-touted iPhone connectivity.
Where is the air conditioning? There is so little information on this car beyond the hype, i'm sorry to see such a misfire at a time Chrysler really needs to deliver another hit like the PT or the 300, both high value plays.
$12500.00 for 25 HP and 30 mile range, FAIL.

It's maybe a deluxe wheelchair for newly retired bankers from wall streets.

Good for Chrysler! At least they are finally on the right track. However, they are still broadcasting the idea that electric cars have to be ugly, expensive, slow, besides having a short range, and not being safe at all.

This will be good for small towns, and retirement communities where they already drive around golf carts. Good value for money. Great for running errands around town. Kind of like a moped but it is enclosed to keep the weather off you. Mopeds are fun, I think this would be also.

It's no wonder GM and Chrysler are going bankrupt! This thing is FUGLY and that stupid Segway thing that GM brought out is just a waste of money and resources. All these car companies have to do is bring back their old EVs with or without new battery technology instead of this crap! WTF is going on here? How hard is it to figure out? Idiots, the whole lot of them!
