Mega City introduces no-frills e-City Pro electric car

The purchase of NICE Car company by French NEV Facturer Aixam has resulted in the e-City Pro Electric Car. The car is a stripped-down version of the Mega e-City, and is priced at £10,131 plus tax (deductible if the car is for professional use). The model, which has no power windows, no alloy wheels. no radio, and no rear wiper, is sold in white, for companies and institutions to paint in their own colors. Lawrence Holland, general manager of Aixam Mega in the UK, said: "By cutting back on extras the e-City Pro offers all the functionality of the Mega range at a significantly reduced cost." The car still retains the 40mph maximum speed and 40-mile range (it has lead batteries), and as all electrics, is exempt from Road tax in Great Britain and Congestion Charge in Central London.

I think thats perfect, it looks good too. its a shame the big three weren't making ones like this all along, its 100 year powertrain technology people!! what possible reason was there for the big three to so completely abandon their electric roots?? hmmmmmm seriously they could have avoided all this vitriol and bad karma if they just hadnt been so in bed with big oil, were they that afraid of a little electric car in the model lineup not even one little commuter like this? and then in the nineties to coerce Honda to crush all theirs and of course the EV1, I wish conservative voters could see how oppressive and authoritarian the people they support really are, because if you vote conservative your supporting corporate corruption 100%

Woodenbee how exactly are conservatives to blame? Conservatives want green cars too. You are using conservative as a blanket term. Social conservative? Fiscal conservative? What exactly are you talking about? Can you cite some examples?

Joe, er WHAT??? ok lets just pretend Obama proposes giving tax credits to EV owners? guess whose going to oppose it, guess who opposes cap and trade, guess who ridiculed cash for clunkers, guess whose in bed with big oil, guess who makes fun of the word Change? or empathy? you guys, all you conservatives, you are obviously ashamed to be associated with them , and rightly so! if you support Republicans you support pollution, torture, environmental catastrophe, war, untold corruption, fiscal madness, the most dangerous and irresponsible corporate corruption ever seen, election stealing, and thats just the last eight years, what you got?

@woodenbee...I can't hold my tongue. Plz turn off CNN and put down the New York Times. All politicians are self-serving and do nothing more than get in the way of what is right for this Country. That includes Obama and all of them...R and D or Red or Blue State. You just seem so angry...it really isn't worth it, my friend. Obama is selling us all down a river....as Bush did....and it will hit home in 3-or-4 years. what we are going through now is a pittance compared to what will happen if Cap-and-Trade goes through. BTW: Global Warming is a hoax. The new term is "Climate Justice".
I say open the door to competition on these vehicles. This has the potential to be the next driver of our economy. The renaissance of the auto industry! Tax credits should only be given to vehicles built in the USA. Period--no excuses.
We are fooling ourselves by marketing these NEV's to be used on the roads as anything more than a golf cart. While 68% of all trips are within 5 miles of home, 60% of fatal accidents thus occur within the same distance. Might be a little loose with the percentages, but if the government had their heads together, they would find a way to get a 50mph MEV with crash standards out there ASAP.
All I have to say is I am very excited over all of these vehicles, the technology, and the opportunity that is ahead of us. It is unbelievable that we are finally at the dawn of a day where we no longer need oil to fuel our cars and our economy. I honestly never thought we would ever see the day that could occur.
Makes you wonder what us citizens will do without having to pay for gas or the gas taxes. It also makes you wonder what these politicians will do without the billions they collect in road taxes. Could be why they are dragging their feet on some of these standards everyone is waiting on for medium speed EV's.
Cheers
