Reno 911 crew needs a lot of help with their electric car

As a fan of the early- to mid-1990's comedy show The State, I've got a bit of a soft spot for Reno 911, which features some of the same comedians. Reno 911 isn't the best show ever, but perfect for late night humor. Recently (or, at least, recently uploaded to YouTube), the police force of semi-incompetents took delivery of a new all-electric squad car. It's a fictional car, made in Detroit and will help the force reduce their carbon footprint. What happens in the 30-second clip would make Dave Letterman proud. It must be the ease of the joke that makes it so common.

Really funny. I loved it. Shame what they did to that poor Daewoo, though.

It has now become the easy joke to make, for some sad reason. Last week alone I saw 3 separate discussions about Detroit that involved a passing joke about them making electric cars. I look forward to buying the electric Ford Focus when it comes out and laughing back at the talking heads.
Their loss; my gain.

That's because the electric car is a joke.

If electric car is joke to you, you are going to laugh a lot. As all of the cars will be eventually electric.

In general I agree, however, I think it's more accurate to say that all private automobiles will be electric. I think there will always be a need for combustion powered transportation in industry.
