Swiss electric motorcycle manufacturer Quantya is planning to show off a new electric sportbike at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan on November 10th. For what it's worth, Zero Motorcycles plans on releasing its upcoming Zero SS electric sportbike around the same time period. According to MC24.no's Ivar Kvadsheim, who's reportedly seen images of the bike, Quantya's new machine features Italian sportbike styling not unlike the Ducati 1198 or Cagiva Mito, but more angular.
Preliminary specs put the new bike's range at about 87 miles per hour under normal riding conditions, with a top speed of over 100 miles per hour – considerably faster than the 45 mph top speed of current electric motorcycles like Quantya's own Strada or the Zero X or the 60 mph managed by the Zero S. Powering the new sportbike will be a lithium ion battery pack sending 74 volts to a 55-horsepower electric motor. Performance like that won't come cheap. Expect the electric machine to cost around €20,000 ($27,000). Ouch.

Riddle me this...
Why does Quantya show some pics of their bike with a dog bone link set up like most of the mainstream gas dirt bikes have and then all the rest of their pics show the rear shock bolted directly to the top of the swing arm??!!
Shady engineering? Lack of decent pictures? misrepresentation if you ask me.
I hate to pick fly sh*t out of pepper, but I am a huge advocate of EV's, especially on two wheels. As an engineer, I am trained to look for problems and things that don't quite match up so pardon me if you think I am picking on them. I am not, quite the opposite in fact. I would like them and ZERO to succeed probably more than anyone else on Earth. But please keep product pictures up to date and keep things honest. I doubt I am the only one that has noticed this.

20,000 euros...very, very, very expensive, but the specs are really interesting, it´s a jump to the future, but with the price of the future.

Finally a production e-sport bike w/decent specs! Too bad it's not affordable.
Can't wait til Zero puts out their sport bike.

After the spanking Quantya delivered to Zero a couple of weeks ago in Las Vegas, their machines are clearly well designed. The sportbike should be an interesting machine as well.
Unfortunately, I don't think we will see prices on any of these high performance electric bikes go down for quite a while. Maybe when the big four Japanese companies finally get involved...

now can they put that engine in their motocross bike frame?!
An electric bike with the power of a CR500.... I'd buy that!
