Hybrids dominate Kelley Blue Book top green cars for 2009

The editors over at Kelley Blue Book recently sat down to compile one of those staples of the publishing world: a top ten list. In this case, the list was made up of their choices for the top ten green cars for 2009. This year's edition of the list included five vehicles that were new to the market for 2009/ Six spots went to hybrid vehicles, with the remaining slots being split between diesel and gas vehicles. Among the new vehicles on the 2009 list are the Honda Insight, Ford Fusion Hybrid and diesels from Volkswagen and BMW.
While not all of the vehicles on the list even attempt to approach the mileage numbers of the 2010 Insight or the new 2010 Prius, they all excel in their particular segments. The list demonstrates that even those in need of a larger SUV or full size pickup truck can find something that uses a lot less fuel than past editions, hence the inclusion of the Toyota Highlander hybrid and Chevy Silverado two-mode hybrid. We've been fortunate to have driven all the vehicles on the list at various times and you can find the links to the reports and galleries after the jump.

I was really disappointed that there are NO electric cars on the list. The Tesla roadster is greener than any of the cars on that list, and it performs much better too!
