Rendered speculation: Peugeot 008, French iMiEV

We've known for several months now that Peugeot would be selling a re-badged version of the Mitsubishi iMiEV in Europe in a couple of years. What we haven't seen is the car itself. We still haven't, but AutoExpress has taken a crack at rendering what it might look like. Overall, their imagined car doesn't look much different from the existing Mitsubishi aside from the front of the car. Given the limited real estate on the front of the iMiEV, there isn't a lot of latitude for change. The huge headlight clusters of recent Peugeots obviously don't fit, but the lion definitely sits front and center. Like the Japanese-branded version, a 64 hp electric motor drives the rear wheels and the lithium ion batteries sit under the seats for a 100-mile range. The Peugeot should hit the streets in about two years when the left hand drive version of the iMiEV is ready for markets outside of Japan and the UK.

Love this car, it is fantastic. I hope they release prices soon. I drive a Nissan so unless Nissan can provide a similar sized car (I want a small car) that is an EV I will switch to Peugeot.

Oddly enough, the styling of this car seems to make more sense with a Peugeot badge on it then it did with a Japanese badge. The lines just seem to fit in better with it being called a Peugeot than it being a Mitsubishi.
