Meet Veronica Moss, A.U.T.O. lobbyist [VIDEO]

"If you know yourself but not your enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat."In an effort to follow the advice of Art of War author, Sun Tzu, the good folks over at Streetfilms, the video arm of the Livable Streets Initiative, wanted to learn more about the people engaged in working against the interest of sustainable development at the federal level. They recently had an opportunity spend some quality time talking with listening to a lobbyist for Automobile Users Trade Organization (AUTO), Miss Veronica Moss and captured the encounter on tape.
Conducted in the front seat of one of her SUVs, the interview with monologue by Miss Moss proved an entertaining vignette and so they have decided to share her insights and attitudes with the rest of the world. Among the pearls of wisdom dropped are the choice declarations, "There are not enough roads for cars," and "People need to be able to drive their car, that's an American right." We won't spoil any more of it for you so, hit the jump for your own bit of quality time with Veronica.

I haven't watched the video but I've seen glimpses of her type first hand, they are the lowest form of life and yet thrive in every Capitol building in the country, if network news had anything to contribute to society they could start by exposing lobbyists instead of just referring to them, which does nothing to help people realize who the real enemy is.

You chose to pass judgement on someone without taking a few precious moments of your time to watch the video or do any further investigation? You epitomize everything that's wrong with the internet and the much-praised "new media". Who needs information or facts when you can lash out and trash people based on a headline and a photo?
If you had bothered to watch, you would have seen that it is a parody and the organization behind it is dedicated to reclaiming the streets for bicycles and pedestrians and deemphasizing the automobile. Check out their website if it's not too much trouble or gets in the way of your prevailing attitudes.

"People need to be able to drive their car, that's an American right."
This is straight out of the 1950's. And it worked in the Fifties, when US population was: 152 Million. It doesn't work when US population is: 305 Million.

It worked in the 50s, (the slogan) it works even better today. You'd have better luck taking away American's guns.

Wow, um... wow. I hope that was a spoof.

Ok thats cute, i should have known a real lobbyist wouldnt be caught dead actually on record doing what they do or even talking about it, thats rule number one! there must be a way to legislate/regulate real lobbyists out of existence, freedom of speech should not apply to Corporations, no other laws of common decency apply to them, so why should corporations have that privilege, you know thats the first thing their Republican accomplices will start bleeting, we need to muzzle those filth, they don't represent the people of America and they corrupt the political system at its very core. We should have a complete moratorium on road construction and lobbying until it can be proven it benefits Americans

Along with the Republican Congresswoman who said, "if English is good enough for Jesus then it should be good enough for everyone", people like this make me lament for the future of humanity. Will Republicans only be happy when the world is a wasteland like Mad Max? Personally I would key this woman's SUV if I lived in her area, but as I don't I MAY need to look for another SUV to key ;-)

@Mark: Better check your source on the attribution, which is *not* alleged to be a member of Congress, but rather a Texas governor; snopes can't substantiate this one (check discussion board) and I daresay you won't either. Here's the really bad news: the Texas governor in question, wait for it, was a Democrat.
Uh-oh.
The wish is, once again, father to the thought...oh yeah, just like man-made global warming...err...or is it global cooling this week...can't keep the sun-spot-activity vs. CO2 debate straight anymore...

Clearly a spoof. I suggest watching "Thank you for smoking". Great satire.

Hope you guys never meet that kind of person especially if you are biking

I can't believe some of you actually believe this is true!! No wonder you believe in global warming and all that crap wholeheartedly. Will believe anything you read/hear...sign me up for stupid class...it's a friggin spoof! Didn't your mommy or daddy ever tell you NOT to believe everything you see? (hear/read etc.)
It even says at the bottom of the video "yes, we know it's comedy" and yet you failed to even read that little bit, only watching the video thinking she's actually meaning everything she's saying!!! Unbelieveable!!
I think that was funny...but then I actually got it...some of you...pfftt...duh!!

I think you forget what site you're reading here... :) The only decent looking women in lobbying are the hookers sent to the Congressman's suite....

Yeah, I'm afraid this is a spoof guys.
Of course the real problem is that the thought process she's spoofing is very real. They would never say it on camera and in public, but the lobbyist who have slowed progress down for decades really do think these things or at least try to press these buttons at various times for personal gain...and it works.
Lobbying works folks. It's the American form of legalized bribery and corruption and we allow it. I do a lot of business in other countries where you have to deal with the bribery. It's patently ridiculous because there are so many laws against it here and you better not get involved or you're butt is going to jail. But wait....you wanted to set up some bogus "conference" in Aruba and invite your local congressman to make a speech to the other "businessmen" who support your hydrogen efforts??? Oh, well that's perfectly ok, please go right ahead and bribe their fat asses off. Oh, sorry, that's not a bribe, that's a business meeting. ROFL Whatever.
That is the reason this country is so screwed up right now and we are a tool for oil companies and oil countries around the world. The reason we spend our money supporting these countries, their terrorist and wars getting our kids killed in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
