Boris Johnson to welcome the 2009 Eco-Rally from Brighton to London

The traditional London to Brighton Veteran Car Run marks the abolition of the 'Red Flag Act' that required motorized vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot. However, now there's an Eco-rally taking place next Monday the 8th that will follow the same route but in reverse and to bring alternative fuel technologies to the British capital. Starting from Madeira Drive in Brighton, there will be a pit-stop at Sainsbury's supermarket flagship eco store in Greenwich before arriving at City Hall in London. There, the crew will be met by London's mayor, Boris Johnson. The City Hall will host the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LCVP) Conference, and later in the day, the Mayor's chamber will be the venue for the What Car? Green Car Awards. All kinds of alternative technologies will participate in this rally: from mild hybrids to EVs, diesels to hydrogen.
