A local Nissan official has announced that the company wants to start selling its upcoming electric vehicles in China in 2011. Yasuaki Hashimoto, president of Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd. announced that Wuhan, in central China, would likely be the first market for the lithium ion-powered cars. Nissan is apparently looking for an enormous uptake of the EVs because Hashimoto said that the electric cars could be produced in China. That would make it the fourth region to build the new cars in addition to Japan, United States and Europe. Considering the new dedicated EV won't be seen publicly until August and it will be some time before we can see how well they perform in the real world, Nissan's confidence is surprising.
