VIDEO: Refuel 2009 Electric Sport TT wrap up

Refuel 2009 at Laguna Seca – click above to watch the videos after the jump
Last Sunday's Refuel event at Laguna Seca seems to have gone off without a hitch with a lot of good track time being had by all. Well, mostly all. At least one car had a motor expire in a ball of plasma but other than that, good times. Sponsored by Speed Ventures, Refuel allowed alternatively-powered vehicles a chance to get to know the famed track and compete against the clock for trophies and bragging rights. As you can see from the picture above (and in the gallery below) there were lots of Tesla Roadsters on hand and they were fast but at the end of the day, the WX10-T from Kleenspeed Technologies proved itself fastest and sped away with the first place trophy for cars.
There was also a herd of motorcycles in attendance, including the TTXGP open-class winning entry from Electric Motorsports. While the race bike didn't take to the track, the company did have several examples of their GPR-S doing laps and ended up with the fastest two-wheeled time of the day. Interestingly, the 2nd fastest motorcycle lap was clocked by the Shocker prototype from Patmont Motor Werks, the Go-Ped people. According to one observer, "The Shocker bike looks even weirder in person than in the videos." Weird? You can judge for yourself as it's featured in the first of the four Laguna Seca videos awaiting you after the jump.

Saw a lot, didn't hear much! I didn't actually go, but it would be quite interesting to have seen them all take off at the starting lights.
Is it just me, but did the pic with all the cars plugged in remind you of being a kid, waiting for the batteries to recharge on your remote control car?

There is a glimpse of a hot rod with a grey tub. Is that electric too?

I'm pretty sure it's from SSI Racing. Here's a video of it smoking its tires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs66sKRz700

The motor failure wasn't on a Tesla. It was on a car set up for drag racing and likely a DC motor.

The TTXGP Open Class winning bike from Electric Motorsport was not there. As per the Open Class rules, Electric Motorsport sold that bike to TTXGP. The bike which Electric Motorsport brought would have been their Pro Class entry, had it been ready in time.
