Many motorcycle and scooter manufacturers like to tout the fuel saving nature of their two-wheeled vehicles. Looking ahead a bit further, it's also becoming obvious that electric motors are poised to make a big impact in motorcycling over the coming years. For this reason, it's not at all surprising that there will be an area at the upcoming EICMA motorcycle show in Milan dedicated to these eco-friendly two-wheeled alternatives called The Green Planet. The display will reportedly showcase electric and hybrid motorcycles.
Bigger headline-generating news, though, will be the absence of both Honda and Yamaha at EICMA, which will easily be the biggest motorcycle show of the year with 420 exhibitors and 500 brands in attendance. It's expected that over 500,000 visitors will roam the halls at EICMA this year in November, so the loss of the two motorcycle heavyweights will certainly be noticed.

People often seem suprised that established companies are so often slow to catch on. Very often establised companies are the least innovative. It's newcomers that shake things up. There were no majors at the TTXGP race and I think it's great. We all know they'll get there eventually it's just fun to see the leaders having to follow for a change. Toyota's been poo pooing electrics alot lately but admit's that if their competitors start cranking out EV's they they won't rule out making them as well. It may be LAME but it's just the way big companies work. They're not innovative and they're often risk averse.
