New Nissan-ZeroEmission micro-site provides teaser of new EV

Nissan has launched a micro-site dedicated to its new electric car. At this point, there isn't any useful information posted but the site does give the first concrete hints of what the new car will look like (much better than this drawing). The as yet un-named EV will be debuting this Sunday in Japan as the automaker officially opens its new world headquarters.
The video that plays as you launch the site rotates around the front of the new battery-powered five seater and it's immediately apparent that Nissan's designers have taken full advantage of the compact dimensions of the electric drive motor. The extremely short deck slopes right down from the windshield to the front bumper. Like the Versa-based prototype that was revealed yesterday, the car also appears to have its charging socket front and center, making it suitable for use in both right and left hand drive markets. No doubt it's just a matter of time before someone leaks out an official photo of the whole car. You know where to find us if you have one.

If you go to the site, that photo is actually an animation. It flashes the roofline (which does look like that drawing) and a bit of the door panel

Correction:
Have taken full advantage of the Nissan Note's body.
Shame, I'd rather take the Versa instead.

@dieqast
Good eye, it does look like the Nissan Note.

An affordable pure EV with better looks than the Coda, better build quality than the Volt (sorry GM, I don't think you have really changed) and real side impact protection? I'll have one of these sir. In blue thanks.
Nissan are going to look like big time heroes for producing anything that's half decent.

Hope it comes in different battery pack sizes. Make mine a 160 mile range please.
Thank you for being one of the first major OEM's to come out of the ICE closet since the late 90's.
Thank you for not being intimidated by big oil and offering us a choice to propell ourselves down the road in a vehicle with four wheels and seats.
Thank you for your forsight and solution to put less Co2 in the air when using personal transportation.
Thank you for bringing back the freedom of driving again as fuel for these vehicles will be so inexpensive. I will buy at least one of your vehicles and Thank You Nissan.

Looking at the pictures of the chassis and batteries of the Nissan, it seems that there may be space to fit a more powerful battery.
Perhaps they hope to do that when costs drop - the Japanese project a 100% price decrease fairly soon.
VW have a target of 200km range for their EV, but it is not due out until 2013

I'd expect something based on the Micra, not the larger Note, as weight is so important in EV cars.

My flash is up to date, but when I visit the site with IE all I see is a big blue "e"... No animation.

you have to wait about 15-20 seconds to see the car, after the "to be unveiled" message goes off screen.

Well, after refreshing the page and trying different browsers, I still only see the blue "e", and then "Zero Emission" under that. Maybe it only ever plays once and then remembers you? I guess I'll have to try again when I get home.
I want to buy an electric card as soon as possible. If Nissan is first, then Nissan it is!

I drive a Mirca diesel 2005 (a good car) so I plan to stay with Nissan for my next car (probably 2011-12) and it looks like it will be this auto.
