Tesla launches customer referral program to spur Roadster sales

If you already plunked down some cash for Tesla Roadster or Model S, now is your chance to earn some of that money back. All you have to do is convince one or more friends to buy and take delivery of a Roadster. It's only fitting that a Silicon Valley car company would follow in the footsteps of internet companies (and AMPLE Motion) and start an affiliate program. Tesla is promising a $500 check to anyone that has bought a Roadster or reserved a Model S and gets someone else to buy the sports car. Unfortunately, the program only applies to the Roadster and not the Model S and you only get the money after your friend takes delivery.

Although Tesla is being coy about actual sales, based on the most recent information the company has released, new buyers won't have to wait as long as the early adopters. The last information we have from Tesla is that the Roadster is sold out through November, so ordering one now could put you behind the wheel in time for Christmas.
