Frankfurt Preview: Peugeot mixes car with scooter to create the BB1 Concept

If a scooter is too small, dangerous and uncovered for your tastes but you'd still like to have as minimal an impact on your surroundings as possible, Peugeot has just the concept car for you. Called the BB1, the French automaker says of its Frankfurt Motor Show-bound machine, "Its mother is a scooter. Its father is a car."
So, the unholy offspring of a mini two-wheeler and a city car would look something like a cartoon car that's straining to stop before smashing into a brick wall. Good to know. One thing is for certain: you won't mistake the Peugeot BB1 for anything else on the road. With its exaggerated forward-pitched stance and solar cell-covered glass bubble roof, this is one concept that stands apart from the rest of the crowd. As for what powers the BB1... well, we have no idea. Could be electric, gasoline or hybrid.
Amazingly, Peugeot has found a way to cram four human beings inside the BB1, and those occupants gain access to the cabin via a pair of reverse-hinged doors with mini roll-down windows. Driving the diminutive machine would surely be an experience, and the controls are more akin to those from a motorcycle than a car. See for yourself in our gallery below, and stay tuned for more details as the doors in Frankfurt officially swing open in the morning.

I honestly believe that this is the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen... seriously, this thing makes the Pontiac Aztec look like high art.

This is a concept. It is only a concept, and this nightmare will not ever be produced.
There have been some car designs that were so ugly they were cute, but this is just too weird and hideous to ever be considered "cute".
Its not even very functional, all the odd curves and bulges and the strange windshield makes for very poor aerodynamics and high production costs.

It looks like it froze into shape after running into a wall.

Yet another excruciatingly ugly French car. What's up with them, anyway?

I like it.
I think the suicide doors and seating look really workable.
It also appears to have a lot of volume inside for a small car.
Some of the exterior lines could be toned down a bit but overall I am happy to see somebody sack up a little with something actually original in a concept car and not just another outrageous matchbox muscle car reject.

I might be able to tolerate it if there were any practicality to the design, but it doesn't even have that going for it.

It looks cool aside from the warped top. Smooth that out and it would look a lot nicer.

I'd like it if the front and rear were completely switched.

Despite its weird looks, it's sometihing different from the VW boring desings. Brovo for the bold appearance. I would like to know some more tech specs. I love theese cars, but the Gordon Murray's T-25 is my favourite one.

It sounds pretty interesting to me.
It also makes me think the pics aren't giving me a good image of what's actually going on as I don't quite see the seating as it's described.
No doubt my mind playing tricks ascribing platonic ideals on the world around me to shield me from the chaos and all.
aaaahhhhh... silly mind.

This thing would have to be locked in the garage at night so it doesn't ugly away. I did see an uglier car once, a Citroen...hmmm that was French too. The French should stick to wine.

First folks it is just a concept to it will not look like this in production, the angles will be smoothed out. I think a car that small that can hold four people is a great work of design. Most drivers are usually alone anyway so this would suit a lot of people.
