REPORT: Will it blend? Not if CARB has anything to say about it

Will it blend? If the answer is no – as was the case with the boron steel used to create the latest Ford Fiesta – perhaps all that's needed is a more powerful blender (insert appropriate Tim Allen-esque grunting sounds here) complete with handlebars and a twist-grip throttle? Enter the Party Blender, which uses a gas-powered engine in lieu of a standard wimpy plug-in electric motor.
Unless you live in California, that is. Earlier this month, the California Air Resources Board (CARB for short) fined On the Edge Marketing from Orange County and CSK Auto Inc. from Phoenix, Arizona a whopping $240,000 for selling the blenders in the Far-Left State. Says CARB chairperson Mary D. Nichols:
So, let's get this straight... gas-powered blenders are A-OK, just so long as they aren't powered by two-stroke engines from China that aren't approved for sale in California? Does this sound strange to anybody else?Gasoline-powered blenders may be this year's tailgate sensation, but drinkers should not be polluting our air while having a good time.

Yes, enforcing the law is insane. It's a good thing non "progressive" states don't bother enforcing their laws...

So you're defending the use of an engine powered blender, when all that's needed is a small, battery powered one?
I don't think you have the brains to lable anyone insane.

OK, How about FASCIST!
Brian 11:32AM (9/24/2009)
Fascist better describes the behavior of those rascally non-progressive states.

I often wonder if all these idiot conservatives ate too many led paint chips as kids, that "those facists" later made illigal.
You can have your idiotic gas guzzlers (I bet you hate CAFE Standards too) if I can have the freedom to cut your break lines, because not doing so infringes on my freedom.

It's not "insane" to enforce reasonable laws to keep the air we all rely on reasonably clean.
Ironic that one of the YouTube vids you linked to discussed politics, favoring a "Republic" style of governments, a rule of law that prevented both mob rule and anarchy, a philosophy that apparently you once subscribed to. Well, here is a prime example of the Rule of Law, yet somehow you think it's "insane". Methinks you need to reassess your politics, at least as far as this issue is concerned.

I'd throw you into that blender, head first.

It's kinda funny, but seriously two-stroke engines from China with no emissions controls are huge polluters whether they're found on blenders or yard tools or whatever.

2-stroke engines usually yield 50 times the air pollution of their 4-stroke counterparts per horsepower

You ask:
"So, let's get this straight... gas-powered blenders are A-OK, just so long as they aren't powered by two-stroke engines from China that aren't approved for sale in California? Does this sound strange to anybody else?"
No, enforcing the law does not sound strange.

It is funny how some call almost any enforcement of the codes or law "fascist". except when their neighbor's dog takes a dump on their yard; then, they call the police and hope they enforce the codes and tell the neighbor where, when and how to walk their dog... but that is not fascist, right? that is just "fair".
Just for a laugh, search for the Top Gear episode where Jeremy Clarkson built a blender using a V8 engine and fired it up in the studio... a four stroke, that is, Europe is already phasing-out all 2 stroke engines already.
