As expected, Rush Limbaugh strapped himself behind the wheel of Ford's specially-prepped electric Focus hatchback as part of Jay Leno's Green Car Challenge last night. We don't mean to brag or anything (well, maybe just a little), but we totally predicted the outcome way in advance of the actual running.
No, Rush did not beat Drew Barrymore's score for his timed lap. Yes, he did in fact take out Al Gore... twice. Also Ed Begley Jr. In any case, Limbaugh claims to have enjoyed his time driving a silent electric car in anger and couldn't care less that his time was negatively impacted by aiming for Gore and Begley. He is a big fat idiot and he cant drive. He tries to cover up his weak driving skill by intentionally throwing the race.

I actually think he had some pretty good laps. His time was hurt much more by the stopping and backing up to hit both Al & Ed twice (though I think he missed Ed the first time) than the 3 second penalty. Drew didn't even stay within the lines of the track.
At any rate, it was good to see a blowhard such as Rush Limbaugh like the car with statements like, "What a blast!" and "Nobody would believe this car is electric!"

I'll just say that I think they're both extreme, but maybe Michael Moore is a better nemesis for Rush.

I would have run over Gore twice too. Ed? I kinda like Ed.
Rush? Fat? He actually looked much better than years ago.
I wish he would have had more time to talk about the experience in an electric car. He seems to bash them an awful lot on his radio show, calling them small, slow bubble cars. That Focus is not really that small, I don't think it was exactly slow and it does not look like a bubble.
Personally I would love to have a car like that. Maybe someday I will. I don't want one to "save the planet" though, I just don't like spending money on gas that comes from countries that harbor terrorists.

It's clear Rush really enjoyed his time in an electric car (and getting the chance to run over Al Gore was icing on the cake). It seemed the experience changed his preconceived ideas about EVs, so I suspect he'll change his tune on EVs.

Are you guys serious? This is retarded. I can not believe what i am reading. Rush is an over egotistical political blowhard who downplays anything progressive. Al Gore is a scientist. Yes he affiliates himself with the liberal party. That doesn't make his environmental findings any less relevant. I get the feeling that you guys along with rush are just too dumb to understand this anyway... why do i try?

Boyprodigy1, global warming is more of a religion than it is science. Personally I don't think driving inefficient vehicles, toxic waste, and a lack of regulations on smokestacks and cow farts is a good thing. I value air and water quality just as much as the next person. Believing however that the current level of CO2 output is in some way irreversibly modifying the global climate is just silly. By the tone of your comments I probably won't be able to convince you otherwise so I guess one thing we agree on is "why do I try".

I don't know what to make of this show......
It's as if CBS is trying promote EVs as viable and fun. But why CBS? Some producer there trying to sway public opinion, or was it Jay's idea?

The race track is a joke IMO, but at least it spreads awareness of EVs. And the network is NBC, not CBS.

Yeah the race track is lame. It's like a Nickelodean race track. All they need is some green goo to drop on the windshield.

Perhaps NBC is promoting as they are owned by GE and I believe GE makes electric motors that are used in EVs. Not 100% sure though.

Leno is a massive car fan. As well as owning a large number of gas-guzzling classic and sports cars, he's also interested in the green scene and owns a Prius.
I would imagine it was his idea.
