SAM begins rebirth as Re-Volt in Poland

If you harbor a fondness for bizarre-looking three-wheeled electric vehicles and are looking for a good excuse to visit Poland, this may be your lucky day. The re-engineered SAM is now for sale in that Central European Republic and has been dubbed the Re-Volt. Those familiar with the project might remember it was expected to be available through the SAM website a couple months back but, for whatever reason, that site is not yet live.
The price to start turning heads (and possibly create panic) on the streets of Warsaw is now set at 60,200 Polish zlotych ($20,780, about 14,000 Euros). That figure includes, among other things, the 7 kWh Kokam lithium ion battery as well as an on-board charger, electric locks and heat. For a reasonable number of extra zlotychs you can upgrade the audio system to a Blaupunkt, get heated seats, a reverse camera with LCD display and alloy wheels. If you want to try before you buy, you can sign up on their website for up to 2 hours of wheel time. If you do go for a test drive, you can expect to get about 60 miles (100 km) of range and a top speed of 55 mph (90 km/h). The Re-Volt also features a two-stage brake regeneration system that kicks in lightly when the foot is removed from the accelerator and more forcefully when the brake pedal is depressed. If you can't make it to Poland in the near future, you can at least content yourself with an ample gallery of pics below. Enjoy!

Love these!
Too bad the dollar's wrecked; a few years ago these figures would've converted to something around 10 grand.

No, thanks.
This thing looks like a death trap and for the cost, I'd rather shell out another $5 - 10k and get a 2 person Aptera. Plus the Aptera promises to be crash tested. This thing is too expensive for what looks like a plastic kit car. $20 k could get you similar (or better) range with an electric conversion (Miata, or Geo Metro, or similar small used car). A conversion would certainly be safer.
I don't understand vehicles like this. Maybe, if I lived in Poland (where I've never been) it would make sense. I'm fine with small cars and even 3-wheelers (if they are safe, like the Aptera promises to be), but this really DOES look like an enclosed motorcycle. I'd much rather just have a Brammo or Zero, that gets similar range, but for half the price and only use it half the time (no rain).

I do live in Poland and trust me - it doesn't make sense here too.
Motorcycle are more and more popular here. Why? Because it's easy to pass traffic jam with them. Motorcycle that is WIDE doesn't make any sense.
And this price...

Get it in a bone color and that would be wicked to drive down the street.

Poland gets all the cool stuff first.
An enclosed Motorcycle. I bet it's a fun drive.

Ch... that'll convince consumers that EVs aren't punishment cars. Didn't this thing star as Hopper in "A Bug's Life"?

i love this car, i've been scowering the net for a while now for info on this car and im glad to see the car revived! If this was front wheel drive (for snow drivability) id buy one right now! its practical, and ridiculously sustainable! cant say the same for the aptera...
with a few revisions this could be a realllllly nice little unit
