Peugeot is no stranger to scooters and already has a 3-wheeled scooter to aim at the Piaggio MP3. Since the MP3 has a hybrid version and Peugeot is exploring hybrids in its automobiles, it's not too surprising that Peugeot has revealed the Concept HYbrid3 Evolution. The powertrain uses a 300cc engine good for 41 hp, according to Diario del Motor. This is double what the MP3 produces and uses two electric motors powering the front wheels to account for eight of those hp. The scooter starts in electric mode and turns on the combustion engine when the speed gets over 10 kmh. When running, the front wheels are activated in case of traction problems. Consumption is low, just 2 l/100 km (118 mpg U.S.), and the HYbrid3 puts out 50 g/km of CO2. The frugal scooter still hits a maximum speed of 150 km/h (90 mph) and runs from 0 to 50 km/h (0 to 31 mph) in under 5 seconds. Unfortunately, Peugeot didn't mention when the scooter anything about a sales date for the HYbrid3.

I saw bajillions of Peugeot scooters in Spain last year. I have never seen one in the US. This looks to be very nice. It sounds like a variation on their 4 wheel hybrid system where the link is the road.

Finally figured out why I like this design more the MP3: the front end is dispatched better, and it's not as tall.
A bit of a bridge between a leaner and a tadpole...

Last line: "Unfortunately, Peugeot didn't mention when the scooter anything about a sales date for the HYbrid3."
Hmm, I think that should either be:
"Unfortunately, Peugeot didn't mention when the scooter goes on sale."
or
"Unfortunately, Peugeot didn't mention anything about a sales date for the HYbrid3."
Edit, please.

Interesting...
In these pics it looks wider and lower.
The max speed in full electric seems limited compared to mp3 as well.
The storage, in these pics, also seems a bit limited.
The dual electric motors is interesting...as compared to the on hub mount unit on the mp3 (if I recall correctly).
Would love to see an article with a side by side review of these two...

This is a nice, aggressive-looking vehicle. I wouldn't mind being seen on this at all.

Looks like it could use a rollcage / areodynamic / rainproof enclosure.
I wonder if that 40hp engine will become a range extender for the iOn or an electric 308
