Coda unveils new website, company blog for the "practical revolution"

When we saw the Coda Automotive promotion team during the AltCar Expo last month, most of the participants were wearing (and giving away) T-shirts labeled "End Dependence Day" (there was also at least one bad sunburn). The idea they were trying to give out was that the company's fairly normal-looking sedan holds within it a lot of potential. Coda's new website, unveiled yesterday, takes the "practical revolution" message from the shirts to the Interwebs. As Coda wrote to us:
Because CODA is less about a car and more about a cause, what you can expect to see is a hype-free zone, where consumers can learn not just about the CODA, but about the important issues surrounding the EV industry. Visitors can check out new images of the all electric sedan, which reflect a slightly updated front and rear fascia and exterior lighting. And for the first time, you will also be able to see renderings of the car's ecologically progressive interior, with fabric made from recycled plastics (PET) including soda bottles.
The new website will also soon feature a new company blog and an impact calculator to see what it would mean to switch over to the Coda Sedan from your current gas guzzler. Revolutionary? No, but not a bad thing to have.
UPDATE: We had an old version of the site in our browser cache. New image uploaded.

Though still pretty bland for the cost, the styling update to the front end is definitely an improvement.

What is the purchase price of the Coda? The website doesn't say.

They haven't really said explicitly, but it's been suggested as around $35K to $45K before any tax credits.
We've been following Miles/Coda for almost 3 years at TMC:

For those who insist that an EV must look totally conventional, this car is for them. I'd drive it. It's not bad looking really. It's a bit expensive if $45k is really the asking price. Even at $37.5K after the tax credit this car is too expensive IMO, but I've never paid more than $30k for a car.
Personally, I'd much prefer an Aptera 2e which I think is one of the coolest looking cars I've ever seen. It will probably be cheaper than the Coda and WAY more efficient. The only advantage the Coda will have is the extra seats, which isn't a huge deal for me.

Who cares how many pounds of CO2 it emits...?
I think thats specifically for the global warming crowd...which continues to shrink.
The car looks pretty plain jane. I'm not saying that they all need to be roadsters, but couldn't they make it a little more attractive then that. Especially at that price...I could get an Escalade for that price.

They lost me with the alarmist " pounds of CO2 burning a gallon of gas emits". No way that's accurate anyhow.

"No way that's accurate anyhow."
Why do you say that? Carbon is 12 g/mole, while oxygen is 16, and there are two of them, so you get out much more weight in CO2 than you started with in gasoline, which is mostly carbon and hydrogen (which is very light).
My only objection is to the sentence construction: "emits ## pounds of CO2 emissions.". What is the second "emissions" doing there? It's like it was proof read by the editors here at ABG ;)

Hypocrits...
The steel for this car probably comes from one of the factories in this photo documentary. They talk about well to wheels impact... well here it is...

All good things start out with good ideas . It does have to be shared with everybody who cares . If more poeple created solutions that work we could all profit instead of crying about spilt milk. I can add 6mpg hwy & 10mpg intown with an extra 150hp to V8 gas Ford, Chevy & Chrysler vehicles with factory warranty continuance. Large Family Highway Hybrids with Towing capability. GenesVettes.com. Reduce gas consumption from 30% to 50%.I have 3 test vehicles that I give test drives by appointment.2007 Corvette 34mpg hwy-43mpg around town 750hp-2008 Corvette 32mpg hwy 40 around town 775hp-2009 Silverado 28mpg hwy-32 around town -18mpg towing 6,000 lbs -500hp-550tq. Who will tell the public about a solution that works & will save 30 to 50 % gas consumptiom . That will also support our auto industry so we can have safer vehicles made here in the US. This is something that can be done now that will add green to many of those vehicles that are underpowered and that waist gas.Gene

No. A gallon of gas is 8 lbs. 19 lbs of CO2 per gallon is not a lie, but religious marching orders from a zealous believer.
Berate my comment , because in your heart you would oh so love to do worse to me if you could. If you are one of the pitiful capable of defending "19 lbs of CO2", we here in the rest of society will one day marvel as you eat yourselves for your 15 minutes of fame.

Anyone know how they arrived at the 19.4 pounds of CO2 per gallon of gasoline in the picture? I mean a gallon of gasoline only weighs like 6 pounds. Are they trying to roll in the entire production chain or something?
