The third installment of the Federation Internationale De Motocyclisme (FIM) e-Power road racing series arrives this weekend at Laguna Seca with the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The starting grid is only about eleven deep – there were hopes for a field of 15 – but it promises to be more entertaining than the first e-Power event with the inclusion of a number of "home teams" to root for. In addition to a trio of American efforts that we have previously seen compete in the rival TTXGP series, the MotoCzysz E1pc and the new Empulse RR from Brammo will also be taking to the track.
It is from those two bikes we could see the fiercest fighting. The E1pc has already proven itself epic and if this untested Brammo machine can stay glitch-free – it's based on the consumer version of the newly-revealed Empulse which, in turn, was based on the first Brammo racer – its rider might be able to give Michael Csysz something to worry about. Maybe.
If you are attending, besides watching the electrics race, you can also try one out. Zero Motorcycles will have its entire lineup available to demo. Their on-track presence will be provided by Kenyon Kluge as he tries to better his recent record-setting mark at this track during the Refuel 2010 event. Hit the jump for the official e-Power entry list, video of Kluge's Laguna Seca hot lap as well as a bonus clip of Michael Csysz practicing at his home track in Portland, OR.
*Update: Bad news – Brammo Empulse RR is out with broke custom component.
Good News – Although not officially listed, TTXGP points leader Lightning Motors is in the competition.
