With both Smart and Mini taking the wraps off their respective electric scooter concepts recently, Suzuki now screams out, "Hey, we've got one too." Okay, that's not exactly the way it went down, but the fact that the trio revealed electric scooter concepts within days of each other sort of seems like some follow-the-leader action went on. Anyways, let's move on to Suzuki's battery-powered two-wheeler. Suzuki's lithium-ion-powered e-Let's prototype began on-road trials in Japan last week. Suzuki hopes to glean info from the trials and create, at some later date, a production version of this battery-powered moped.

The e-Let's (yes, the name has an apostrophe, which boggles the mind) squeezes a in-wheel electric motor with regenerative braking capability, the aforementioned li-ion battery and an on-board charging system into its compact, lightweight chassis. The e-Let's can be charged from a typical (100V) household outlet in as little as four hours, but with a maximum range of only 18 miles – provided you speed stays below 18 miles per hour and hills are not a part of your journey – we'd definitely question the usefulness of such a product.
