Motorsport legend Jack Roush is bringing his trackside experience to the alternative fuel industry with a newly established venture called Roush CleanTech. The venture will focus on developing and marketing propane-fueled vehicles to the world's automotive giants. CleanTech is actively developing several products of the propane variety, including Ford F-450, F-550, F-650, and F-53/F-59 bare chassis, all powered by a 6.8-liter V10 engine fed by propane.

CleanTech president Joe Thompson said in a statement that propane is a viable and cost effective fuel for the future:
Propane burns cleaner than gasoline or diesel, with up to 20 percent less nitrogen oxide, up to 60 percent less carbon monoxide, 24 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and fewer particulate emissions when compared to gasoline. Already the third most widely used fuel, it is available 'right here, right now' with a national infrastructure already in place. Propane plays a strong role in lowering our national dependence on imported oil, as 90 percent of the propane used today comes from domestic sources of production, and an additional 7 percent from Canada.
14 million vehicles across the globe operate on propane, but in the U.S., only 300,000 vehicles run on this readily available fuel. By focusing on products that highlight propane's performance and clean-burning properties, CleanTech hopes to convince Americans that propane is primed to become one of the dominant alternative fuels of the future.
