There are some 20 or so Leafs on the roads in Portugal and no Volts (no Opel Amperas). To be fair you should count all the leafs...

After many decades of cars that run exclusively on fossil fuels, people are buying cars that can operate without an oil company's products. It's a start - a tiny ripple that may one day turn into a huge tsunami.
What a worthless stat. GM is ahead b/c a various gov't agencies are buying the Volt. Now that's a strong economy for you: gov't props up GM; gov't buys from GM!

We'd love to see good data like that. I'm pretty sure all these are deliveries to people on the waiting list, or maybe dealers, but I could be wrong.
If you don't have such information though, please retract your accusation.
Don't buy any of these cars and regular cars too. Wait till someone or gm or nissan sell the appropriate recharging solar panels to fuel these cars. It's easy to see that neither gm or nissan want someone driving for free, let them eat their own cars like they do actually with their hydrogen freecells. Without a job, they will have the time to drive their own cars instead of cashing money from goverments like they do actually. No good cars no nothing.

Nissan has to split its production output between Japan and the U.S, with the majority going to Japan. Plus, they also promised to supplying Europe before the summer. That's way more than they can swallow.
Nissan preferred having *lots of demand* and *not enough supply* than the other way around. Ford won't have their BEV before 2012, so Nissan figures they have one year to ramp up production to fulfill demand.
Actually quite reasonable, from a business angle.
Well . . . we can stop importing oil now. LOL

Not to mention, with so few places with public charging stations, people are more willing to buy a car that doesn't rely on them... if every town had lots of charging stations, I think the numbers would be reversed, assuming they could keep up with production...

It seemed like the VIN# tracked the amount of Volts sold pretty closely earlier. Has that changed now that GM is sending Volts to the dealers for Demo cars?
I watch the price of oil going up and I grin every time I see stories about the Volt, the Leaf and the Focus BEV. Within a year EREV's and BEV's are going to be the cars everyone wants to have.
Maybe it's because the story we heard about 1/3rd of Volts going to GE? Maybe those are being delivered and not being counted?
