Mazda's Minagi Concept, a sleek CUV that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in March, will make its North American debut at the New York Auto Show later this month. The Minagi features the automaker's multi-faceted Skyactiv technology including a fuel-sipping Skyactiv engine that transfers power to the tarmac via the automaker's Skyactiv transmission.
Showgoers will see the refreshed 2012 Mazda3 alongside the Minagi. On public display for the first time in the U.S., the worked-over Mazda3 is equipped with the automaker's fuel-efficient Skyactiv-G (Sky-G) gasoline engine, which sends its power to a Skyactiv-Drive gearbox. The 2012 Mazda3 is slated for launch this fall.
Notice a recurring word? Mazda's star of the New York Auto Show is its Skyactiv technology, a term the automaker applies to a range of components including completely redesigned gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions and its advanced body and chassis. Look for more on the Minagi, Mazda3 and Skyactiv tech as the New York Auto Show draws near.
