We've heard this one before, the one where we hear Nissan is getting ready to expand its line-up of all-electric vehicles. We're all familiar with the Leaf and then there are the other Nissan-family EVs, the Infiniti luxury electric vehicle (which Infitini boss Johann De Nysschen recently re-confirmed to AutoblogGreen is coming, someday) and the NV200 utility van. But wait, there's more.
Automotive News spoke with Carla Bailo, senior vice president for research and development at Nissan Americas, and learned that a total of five Nissan EVs are in the works. No announcements were made as to which ones are on the drawing board – could it be a sports car like the Esflow? Or something like the Land Glider concept (pictured) – but that these future EVs will come bearing inductive charging (just like that Infiniti EV, we've heard). In other words, the previously only-for-luxury-buyers wireless technology could someday soon be seen on a mass market Nissan EV. When? No clue, since Bailo just said, "The other [EVs] will come in due time." We'll keep waiting, and probably hearing more rumors along these lines while we do.
