tesla supercharger

Red Wing and Blackhawk fans who happen to be Tesla Model S drivers can now unite, party on and maybe even slug it out at Michigan's first charging station in Tesla Motors' Supercharger network. Tesla will open a Supercharger in St. Joseph, MI, which is about 190 miles west of Detroit and about 100 miles east (in a lakeside-loopy way) of Chicago. Tesla has two more Superchargers planned for Michigan.

Tesla says its Superchargers provide as much as 120 kw of power and can charge up three hours worth of driving into a Tesla's battery in about 20 minutes. The California-based maker of the Model S luxury electric sedan laid out its Supercharger network plan in May, saying at the time that it would triple its count in June to 25 stations nationwide, including those in the Pacific Northwest, Texas, Illinois and Colorado. Tesla said that it would be able to connect most major North American cities via Superchargers by the end of the year. Tesla's Supercharger map shows about 35 chargers, including 19 on the West Coast and about 10 dotted along the Eastern seaboard. There are two in Illinois. Check out Tesla's press release below.

About Supercharger

Tesla Superchargers allow Model S owners to travel for free between cities along well-traveled highways in North America. The TeslaSupercharger is substantially more powerful than any charging technology to date, providing up to 120 kilowatts of power and replenishing half a charge in twenty minutes.

Supercharger stations are strategically placed to allow owners to drive from station to station with minimal stops. Stations are located near amenities like roadside diners, cafes, and shopping centers so road trippers can stop for a quick meal and have their Model S charged by the time they're done.
