Via Motors Electrified Truck

Recargo, Inc., and Via Motors have made an agreement to simplify the charging process for drivers of plug-in hybrid electric trucks and vans. At the Detroit Auto Show this week, the two companies announced an agreement to add Recargo's Plugshare charging station finder in Via's in-dash EV application.

Drivers will now get assistance finding a charge whenever and wherever they need one, which is another way to improve efficiency and reduces emissions, said Via President Alan Perriton in the press release (available below). Plugshare claims to offer the world's largest and most comprehensive database of of public, paid and free charging stations, and that very well may be accurate. Plugshare can find over 28,000 charging stations in North America and 55,000 globally. That should work well with Via's plan to unveil its iPad in-dash EV control system later this year. Drivers will have access to Via's VTRUX lineup with the connected iPad offerings, providing "an integrated and informed EV experience," said Brian Kariger, CEO of Recargo.

Recargo has been hard at work simplifying the EV charging experience. At the 2013 Plug In Conference in San Diego, CA, Recargo and SemaConnect launched Pay With Plugshare and its mobile pay option for both SemaConnect and Plugshare apps. The idea there was to allow one app to handle all the billing issues without the need for a pre-paid card or a call to a 1-800 number.
