It looks like those long curious to ride in a BYD battery-electric car in the US will only be able to do so from the back of a cab. The China-based company, which has for years been trumpeting a potential entry into the US light-vehicle market with the all-electric e6 sedan, will only sell the EV here to fleet buyers, Green Car Reports says. That means no private EV sales to Americans, at least for now.

The company, whose share price has dropped about 75 percent during the past three years because of lower-than-expected sales, said last month that it may eventually stop making gas-powered cars and limit light-duty vehicle production to just hybrids and plug-ins. BYD, which also makes an all-electric bus, moved about 1,700 plug-in vehicles last year. Since December, the company has reached municipal and taxi-cab sales agreements with its hometown of Shenzhen as well as with Bogota, Colombia.
BYD e6 EV will be sold in the US only to fleet buyers originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Fri, 10 May 2013 07:50:00 EST.
It's not quite Elon Musk's vision of a purely electric-vehicle company, but BYD may move away from purely gas-powered cars in an attempt to reverse lagging sales. Yes, you read that right.

The China-based automaker could stop making gas-powered cars within two years and may go solely with hybrids and plug-ins for its light-duty vehicles, Reuters says, citing two BYD executives it didn't identify. As part of the effort, BYD may also get out of the light-bulb and solar-panel making businesses and could target its e6 EV purely for rental vehicles and taxis while introducing new plug-in models.

Last year, BYD sold about 458,000 cars and has seen its share price drop more than 75 percent over the past three years. The company's biggest investor is Warren Buffett, who owns about 30 percent of the company.

The Wall Street Journal reported in February that BYD expected to more than quadruple light-duty plug-in vehicle sales this year on rising gas prices and aggressive government incentives for plug-in vehicles. BYD sold about 1,700 plug-in vehicles last year, and since December reached municipal contracts for its e6 EVs with Bogota, Columbia, as well as its home-base of Shenzhen, China.
BYD may go all-green with vehicle production, eliminating gas-only powertrains originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Mon, 22 Apr 2013 10:08:00 EST.
China, which ended its three-year electric-vehicle subsidy program in December, will resume it as soon as April, Reuters reports, citing BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu.

The head of the China-based automaker, whose biggest shareholder is Warren Buffet, didn't disclose details about the subsidy program, but given that it previously amounted to about $9,700 per vehicle, it's likely to be substantial. As it is, Pike Research has predicted that plug-in vehicle sales would surge about 60 percent per year to about 152,000 vehicles for 2017.

Additionally, Wang said that the all-electric Denza, which it is developing with Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler and which was first announced about a year ago, will go on sale by June 2014. That's about six months later than previously estimated.

Recently, Reuters reported that the Chinese government would enact its first fleetwide fuel-economy mandate for new vehicles, which were projected to be about 34 miles per gallon by 2014 and about 47 mpg by the end of the decade.re-
China will re-start plug-in vehicle subsidies, says BYD chair originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Fri, 29 Mar 2013 10:16:00 EST.
While the city of Long Beach, CA, could pit BYD and Proterra electric buses against each other in a race along the city's famed Long Beach Grand Prix route to determine the winner of the municipality's new bus contract, we know that's not going to happen. Instead, the city is debating its decision to award China-based BYD a $12.1-million contract for 10 business, reviewing the decision late last week, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reports.

The contract, funded by the Federal Transit Administration and its efforts to move buses away from diesel and compressed natural gas engines, has become a point of contention and was most recently blasted by officials at South Carolina-based Proterra. That company questioned the BYD vehicle's reliability and durability and brought up the fact that those buses are made overseas.

BYD's Michael Austin called Proterra's comments "a smear tactic," and said the company had more experience producing electric buses than Proterra and noted that BYD, whose biggest shareholder is Warren Buffett, will eventually make the buses in California.

Last May, BYD won a contract with Windsor, Ontario for the first municipal fleet of all-electric buses in North America. BYD, which says its buses can go 155 miles on a single charge, also won a miles per gallon-equivalent contest that the Clinton Climate Initiative and InterAmerican Development Bank held in Colombia last fall.
Proterra slams Long Beach for giving electric bus contract to China's BYD originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 18:05:00 EST.
Brooklyn Dodger fans were long known for their mantra, "Wait 'til next year." BYD appears to be following suit.

The Chinese automaker says it will more than quadruple light-duty plug-in vehicle sales next year, as demand will be fueled by a combination of government incentives and rising gas prices, the Wall Street Journal reports.

BYD, which sold about 1,700 light-duty plug-in vehicles in 2012, hopes to boost that number to about 8,000 this year. Electric bus sales are supposed to almost triple from 700 to about 2,000. The company should benefit from fleet sales as companies look to reduce refueling costs, as well as subsidies in China that can reach as high as $19,000 US (roughly) per vehicle.

Since December, BYD has won contracts to supply 49 of its E6 EVs to the city of Bogota, Colombia, for its taxi fleet, as well as for 500 E6s that will be used by the police force in Shenzhen, China. Last October, BYD reached an agreement with Greentomatocars to supply 50 E6s to that company's London taxi fleet. That's not quite 8,000, but a little here and a little there adds up.
BYD hopes to quadruple light-duty plug-in vehicle sales this year originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Fri, 01 Mar 2013 10:03:00 EST.
Chinese electric carmaker BYD has won a contract to supply 500 E6 pure electric police cars to the city of Shenzen, China. For BYD, the deal signifies that the "promotion of BYD new energy vehicles has reached a new height."

The BYD e6 can reach a maximum speed of 140 kilometers per hour (about 87 miles per hour), if needed in a pursuit. The overall range on a fully charged BYD e6 is 300 km (about 186 miles), which satisfies the Shenzen police department's demands for vehicles that perform daily patrol and law enforcement. It also meets the city's goal of reducing CO2 emissions and pollution in the city, improving the city environment.

Shenzen is getting quite electrified, thanks to BYD. The automaker previously supplied additional e6 models to the city - 300 for taxi service. They've reached an accumulated fleet mileage of over 30 million km (18.6 million miles). In fact, one of these cars has already reached over 250,000 km (155,000 miles). BYD also supplied 200 electric buses which have accumulated over 10 million km (6.2 million miles). Shenzen is planning on adding 500 more BYD e6 electric taxis and 500 BYD electric buses to its public transport system.

Municipal and central government agency fleet acquisitions appear to be a big part of the Chinese government's strategy of meeting its "new energy vehicle" targets, and BYD is playing a leading role in the deployment. China wants to see five million plug-in electric vehicles on its roads by 2020.

BYD has launched the "Zero Down Payment, Zero Costs, Zero Emissions" program in the taxi and bus markets to ease adoption of the new technology. In the private sector, BYD offers the e6 and the dual-mode F3DM electric car. This year, BYD will be launching the F3DM with a second generation dual mode technology - code named "Qin" - to further accelerate its presence in China's private automobile market.

BYD is providing electric vehicles to fleet in other parts of the world. BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu and Greentomatocars, London's second largest minicab service, signed a deal last October to create London's first all-electric minicab fleet. BYD is supplying 49 e6 taxis to the city of Bogota, Colombia. It's the first all-electric taxi fleet in South America.</photo>
BYD adding to Shenzen's city fleet with 500 e6 electric police cars originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Sat, 19 Jan 2013 09:11:00 EST.
Nissan, BYD and Toyota are among companies that may soon be supplying plug-in vehicles to Hong Kong's taxi fleet, the publication Energy and Capital reports.

With cabs accounting for more than 18,000 of Hong Kong's approximately 550,000 vehicles, adding plug-in vehicles to the city's fleet could help Hong Kong cut its pollution substantially. As of last April, just 310 of Hong Kong's cabs were plug-ins. Meanwhile, about 17 percent of the city's pollution stems from vehicle emissions, which is why the government is beginning to enact subsidies geared towards encouraging plug-in vehicle use.

Electric taxis are becoming a thing all around the world. Last October, New York City said it was launching a pilot program in which a half-dozen Nissan Leafs were added to the city's taxi fleet. And, last month, BYD said it would supply the Colombia capital city of Bogota with 49 e6 all-electric vehicles, which will be South America's first all-electric taxi fleet when it goes live during the first quarter of the year. BYD will also be adding about 50 EVs to London's taxi fleet this year. Have you taken a ride in one in your travels?
Hong Kong may get more electric taxis from Nissan, BYD originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Thu, 03 Jan 2013 16:00:00 EST.
Chinese automaker BYD will soon be running a fleet of 49 electric vehicles as emissions-free taxis in the capital of Colombia. BYD will supply 46 of its e6 EVs to Bogota for what will be the first all-electric taxi fleet in South America. Three more e6 EVs will be provided for Colceincias, Bogota's Technology, Science and Innovation Administration. The taxi fleet will go live sometime by March 2013.

The number of agreements between EV makers and cab companies appear to be on the rise, as cab-driving conditions present a substantial opportunity to cut operating costs by way of lower refueling expenses. BYD said in October that it reached an agreement with Greentomatocars to supply 50 e6 electric vehicles to a London taxi fleet. The EVs are expected to go into service in mid-2013.
Faced with a history of slow plug-in vehicle sales in China, BYD has a new plan to move electric metal: free emission-free cars. Sort of.

Called "Zero vehicle purchase price, Zero costs, Zero emissions," BYD's new plan involves the company's all-electric e6 and its electric bus in China. Instead of paying the full price up-front, the companies can get financing from the China Development Bank to purchase vehicles using a "zero initial payment + payment in instalments" basis. BYD mentions three options - a financial lease, an operational lease and buyer's credit - but they all seem to be just different ways to look at saving money because monthly usage costs are lower in an EV than a gas-burning vehicle.

BYD cites the following example. The BYD e6 taxi costs 180,000 RMB ($28,820 US at today's exchange rates) after a 120,000 RMB ($19,000) off in federal and local subsidies. The math BYD uses says that monthly usage costs are 7,166 RMB ($1,147) lower in the e6 than a gas taxi every month. BYD says, "If the hire car runs for 5 years, and the total saving over 5 years is deducted from the higher cost of the vehicle and the interest on multiple payments, it can save 326,400 RMB." In other words, your EV is "free."

In case you were interested in reliability, BYD says there are over 300 e6 taxis in operation, and the longest-serving has almost 149,000 miles on it. BYD says the plan "provides a realistic and feasible path to speed up public transport electrification."
Continue reading BYD offers "free" emission-free driving to taxi, bus operators in China

BYD offers "free" emission-free driving to taxi, bus operators in China originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Wed, 07 Nov 2012 07:47:00 EST.
Chinese automaker BYD has reached an agreement to provide London with its first fleet of all-electric cabs.

BYD and Greentomatocars signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in which BYD would supply 50 all-electric e6 vehicles for the company's fleet. Greentomatocars, which operates about 300 cabs throughout London, expects to have the EVs in service by mid-2013. The e6 delivers around 100 horsepower and has a single-charge range of up to 186 miles.

Using EVs for cabs is topical because the high-mileage/low speed driving conditions create the opportunity to substantially cut refueling costs compared to traditional cabs. A Washington, DC-area taxicab operator recently said he planned to have an all-electric fleet of cabs and ordered about 40 Nissan Leaf vehicles. That company, Electric Vehicle Taxicab Company, is also planning to install 56 DC fast-charging stations in the company's service area.

And earlier this year, Nissan promoted the all-electric Leaf in the London area by providing free cab rides. New York City and Mexico City are among other areas where Leafs have been tested in taxi fleets.
The energy efficiency of electric buses from BYD didn't get lost in translation, apparently.

The Chinese company entered its all-electric buses in a fuel-efficiency testing program put on in Colombia by the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) and InterAmerican Development Bank (IABD), and the buses came up big.

Running against diesel and CNG-hybrid buses on a 12-mile route through Bogota that took between 60 and 90 minutes to complete, BYD's bus achieved a 7.3 km/liter-equivalent by measuring costs and 11 km/liter-equivalent measuring by energy output, which was the best among the buses tested. By our math, that comes out to between 17 to 26 miles per gallon equivalent, which doesn't sound great relative to cars, but is three to four times what the typical smoke-belching diesel bus gets.

BYD says the 200-plus electric buses it has put into service in Shenzhen, China have put on more than 5.5 million miles. In June, the company sold six buses to the Dutch island of Schiermonnikoog. In May, BYD won a contract to sell the city of Windsor, Ontario, for what was said to be the first North American municipal fleet of all-electric buses.
Hey, it's a start.

BYD, the China-based vehicle maker that's repeatedly delayed the debut of its battery-electric vehicles for the U.S. market, has sold three of its EVs to the Thai utility company that supplies power to Bangkok as part of an effort to promote EV vehicle use in the country. Power company MEA cited BYD's leadership role in EV production and Thailand's need to adopt more green transportation as the reason behind the purchases.

A year ago, Thailand flooding killed more than 800 people and devastated its automobile production industry, including companies like Toyota and Honda. Before the floods, Thailand was the world's 12th-largest automotive producer, with about 1.6 million vehicles built in the country in 2010. Because of the flood, any efforts promote the production of more fuel efficient cars and, in some cases, vehicles with advanced powertrains, were held back.

BYD has been testing its all-electric e6 with Shenzhen, China taxi operators for more than two years. The company has also sold about 200 battery-electric buses worldwide. BYD, whose investors include Warren Buffett, was testing its EVs in Los Angeles as early as 2010 and had previously set U.S. launch dates for 2010, 2011 and 2012. BYD opened its North American headquarters in Los Angeles late last year.
Continue reading BYD sells its first electric cars, three E6 EVs, in Thailand

BYD sells its first electric cars, three E6 EVs, in Thailand originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Wed, 12 Sep 2012 12:42:00 EST.
Here's some good news for fans of the BYD e6 and, quite possibly, electric vehicles in general.

A couple months ago, BYD saw its stock take a big hit amidst speculation about the safety of its batteries when an e6 taxi caught fire in a fatal crash after getting rear-ended by a Nissan GT-R being driven at extremely high speed. Now, a government investigation has discovered that the batteries were not the cause of either the blaze, or the three deaths.

Apparently, it was the impact that killed the passengers. They, sadly, "suffered severe damage which exceeded the endurance limit of human bodies." As for the batteries, while 21 of the 96 lithium ion phosphate cells did experience secondary fire damage, none of them exploded despite serious deformation of the battery compartment. The initial ignition seems to have stemmed from arcing that spread to combustible materials.

While it could be argued that electricity played a part in starting the fire, it must also be remembered that every vehicle holds a significant amount of potential energy and that catastrophic damage may unleash it, whether that power is stored in the form of batteries or liquid fuel.

Perhaps because electric vehicles are relatively few in number, an accident like this gets a lot of media attention and, without all the facts at hand, incorrect conjecture arises. Vehicle fires are, however, already an unfortunate part of automotive reality. According to the National Fire Protection Association, 2010 saw 184,500 such events occur on our roads, and that number is a significant improvement (i.e., a decrease) over years past.

Indeed, it seems probable that replacing gas-powered vehicles with electrics will improve on this situation even further. How? Gas stations in the U.S. experience about 5,000 fires a year.
Batteries not to blame in all-electric BYD e6 fire originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Tue, 07 Aug 2012 19:44:00 EST.
Don't worry, there won't be a spelling test for this one.

China-based vehicle maker BYD won a contract to sell six of its electric buses to the 10-mile-long island that's home to the Netherlands' first national park. BYD says that park, Schiermonnikoog (spell-check won't catch that), is "virtually car free" and has just 1,000 residents. What do they need with six big buses? Well, the island attracts about 350,000 visitors annually, and now they can be shuttled around in tailpipe-emission-free buses starting early next year.

Last month, BYD won a contract to supply the city of Windsor, Ontario - right across the river from Detroit - with what will be the first fleet of all-electric buses for a North American municipality. Last year, BYD won similar contracts with Singapore and Frankfurt, Germany. BYD has said its eBUS-12 has a single-charge range of 186 miles.
Continue reading BYD sells six electric buses to Netherlands' island

BYD sells six electric buses to Netherlands' island originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Sat, 09 Jun 2012 08:32:00 EST.
It's not exactly unusual for a car to catch on fire after getting rear-ended at more than 100 miles an hour.

That's the argument that BYD is making on the issue of the most recent setback - that an all-electric BYD e6 taxi in Shenzhen exploded, killing the driver and two passengers, after being rear-ended by a sports car going about 112 miles per hour - according to both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. The China-based automaker repeated the fact that the batteries used in the e6 have passed abuse tests without catching fire.

BYD, whose investors include Warren Buffet, has seen its shares fall by more than 40 percent since February, according to the Times. Meanwhile, BYD's car sales through April fell eight percent from a year earlier, even though overall auto sales in China rose six percent, indicating that the company's vehicles are falling out of favor. The company is now hoping that more aggressive Chinese government investment in electric-drive vehicles will help both development and sales. China's finance ministry has said it plans to fund as much as $315 million worth of annual hybrid and electric vehicle development.

In April, BYD said that the 186-mile single-charge range e6 would start U.S. sales by year end, echoing similar claims made for a U.S. launch in 2010 and 2011. BYD also has an agreement with Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler to build a battery-electric vehicle called the Denza, which is slated to start production next year. BYD opened its U.S. headquarters in Los Angeles late last year.
BYD: all-electric e6 taxi fire could have happened to anybody originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Mon, 04 Jun 2012 07:52:00 EST.
Some Americans may derisively refer to Canada as the 51st state, but when it comes to BYD's all-electric buses, them Maple Leafs have left us behind.

The City of Windsor, Ontario, which is right across the river from Detroit, will be the first North American municipality to have a fleet of all-electric buses made by China-based BYD.

Transit Windsor signed a letter of intent to buy as many as 10 buses this year. Windsor leaders cited, among other things, the fact that the buses' batteries don't consist of any heavy metals or toxic electrolytes. BYD and local utility company Enwin Utilities also reached an agreement for the buses' batteries to be reused for stationary power storage after they outlive their use powering the 40-foot-long buses.

BYD, whose investors include Warren Buffet, has gradually picked up business from various municipalities for its battery-electric buses. Last June, BYD, which opened its North American headquarters in Los Angeles late last year, reached agreements with both the city of Frankfurt, Germany, and with Singapore.

BYD says its eBUS-12 can go as far as 186 miles on a single charge and can be recharged in as little as 30 minutes with BYD's own 600-kilowatt rapid charging system.
Continue reading BYD will supply up to 10 all-electric buses to Windsor, Ontario

BYD will supply up to 10 all-electric buses to Windsor, Ontario originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Wed, 09 May 2012 08:01:00 EST.
BYD is making multiple splashes at the Beijing, both with its own line-up of vehicles and its new Denza electric vehicle partnership with Daimler.

This is the first time we have seen the Denza vehicle, and it's got some interesting touches. The cabin is easy-access thanks to rear suicide doors that open up to a "lounge" style rear seats (according to Denza, anyway) that contains chrome, wood and copper features as well as an "ambient light system that runs all throughout the cabin making night driving more pleasant without compromising safety." The all-electric car is being called a "New Energy Vehicle" (NEV) but important details like battery size, price, range, etc. are not available yet. The car doesn't seem to have a name - it is identified simply as Denza's "new all-electric vehicle show car" - but it is being developed for the Chinese market with an expected arrival in 2013. Prototypes are being tested now, and Denza says that the number of NEVs in China could hit 5 million by 2020.

The BYD-branded models on display include the Qin (pronounced but not written "Chin," as BYD PR said the other day) plug-in hybrid and the F3 Plus. The Qin has an all-electric range of 31 miles and uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 223 kW of power and 440 Nm (295 pound-feet) of torque. The Qin's 0-62 mile per hour time is 6.9 seconds and top speed is 115 mph. All this with 118 MPGe. Looks like we got the name wrong, or at least the English version. Instead of Qin, as we noted yesterday, the new plug-in vehicle that BYD is going to unveil at the Beijing Motor Show next week will be called Chin. That's it in the picture above.

BYD says the Chin will "Lead the EV way" with the new Dual Mode II system that beats the old F3DM "in efficiency, power and energy-saving." BYD says that the the Chin gets roughly 120 MPGe (specifically, BYD says it takes two liters to go 100 kilometers, or .53 gallons per 62 miles). The press release also says that the Chin "requires just 16RMB of energy per 100km," which is a slightly confusing (because RMB is the abbreviation for China's currency) to say that it costs around $2.50 U.S to go 62 miles. To go with the electric car, BYD is also going to unveil its "Bi-directional Inverter Charging and Discharging Technology" that will allow energy from the battery pack to be used for offboard power.

BYD will also display the second-generation F3, called the F3 Plus. This car doesn't have an alternative powertrain, but it does have "world-leading Remote Control Driving technology," which turns the car into a life-size RC vehicle. To wit:

With the key in his or her hands, the driver can make the car start, move forward and back, turn left and right, and travel at a restricted speed all by itself, without the driver even being in the vehicle. It is a perfect solution when the parking space is not wide enough for the driver to exit the car once parked. In windy and rainy weather, drivers can even remotely move the car to his or her side without getting wet.

This certainly something worth investigating, if only to understand the limits of what it can do. Mostly, we're interested in seeing if we can get the F3 to rush to our side like the Batmobile.
Continue reading BYD's Beijing Motor Show line-up includes Chin Dual Mode, remote-controlled F3

BYD's Beijing Motor Show line-up includes Chin Dual Mode, remote-controlled F3 originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 15:57:00 EST.
Looks like DM might stand for "done model."

BYD is unveiling a new plug-in hybrid-electric model at this month's Beijing Motor Show that will replace the Chinese automaker's F3DM (pictured), which sold just 80 units since debuting in 2009, Technologic Vehicles reports.

BYD says the new model, called the Qin, can go from 0-62 miles per hour in less than seven seconds because of lighter batteries, according to the publication, who said the model's look was "fluid and incisive." The F3DM was a plug-in electric with an on-board gas-powered range extender.

BYD launched the F3DM (the DM actually stands for "dual mode") in 2009 after showing off the model, which looked somewhat like a Toyota Corolla, at that year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The F3DM was said to have a 0-60 miles per hour acceleration time of 10.5 seconds and could run for 62 miles on electric power alone.

In late 2010, BYD and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) reached an agreement to test out the F3DM. Over the next two months, one of the city's housing inspectors said some of his electric-only trips exceeded 50 miles and that he'd only used a half-tank of gas, according to Plugin Cars. Last year, BYD opened its North American headquarters in Los Angeles.

Earlier this week, the company said its all-electric E6 would be available for sale in the U.S. by the end of the year, though the company had previously made similar claims about 2010 and 2011. BYD has said the car has a totally impressive 186-mile single-charge range. BYD also has an agreement to build a battery-electric vehicle with Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler AG and recently named that brand Denza. The brand's first car is slated to start production next year.
BYD's Qin sedan will replace poor-selling F3DM originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Thu, 19 Apr 2012 07:50:00 EST.
The BYD E6 is a football. No, not a political one like the Chevy Volt. Rather, it is the pigskin that the cartoon character Lucy would hold in place, but then snatch away when Charlie Brown's ever-hopeful foot was in mid-swing.

BYD has, yet again, placed an example of its all-electric e6 crossover on display at an American auto show and is, once more, teasing us with promises of bringing it to the U.S. market. This time, for reals. Yeah, we've heard similar claims about 2010, which were then changed to 2011. Then shifted to 2012 and, later, mid-2012.

Now, BYD USA president Michael Austin says that the vehicle will be certified for sale in the U.S. before the end of the year and, after first being made available to fleets such as Hertz (with whom BYD already has a relationship), will be offered for sale to consumers. There is, however, one slight caveat. He also mentioned that would only happen when the charging network is further developed.

Apparently, the company doesn't believe that charging infrastructure in the U.S. has evolved to the point where the E6, with its 186-mile estimated range, is yet practical for buyers. This was, if you'll recall, also last year's stated excuse for the delays. While it it tempting to point out that the 73-mile Nissan Leaf has sold over 11,000 units in the past year and so this is really a poor pretense, we will refrain.

Instead, we will point to the fact the BYD actually has an American headquarters and remind ourselves that we've spoken to at least one dealer who has one on hand for prospective buyers to check out. We can't help but wonder though if, by the time it goes on sale, the BYD vehicle will actually be branded a Denza.
BYD e6 available to U.S. consumers in <strike>2010</strike> <strike> 2011</strike> <strike> 2012</strike> 2013; Hertz gets it first originally appeared on AutoblogGreen on Sat, 14 Apr 2012 16:31:00 EST.
