LA 2007: Chevrolet Aveo 5, questionable aesthetics come to US {Autoblog Green}
Mar 20th 2008 1:14PM 2009 Aveo5 fuel economy is very poor when compared to Toyota and Honda. The guy above me is comparing the Manual transmission EPA with Automatic EPA which is like compariong apples and oranges. Honda
EPA for automatic is 27/34 where as Aveo5 is 24/34.
3mpg difference in city driving is very huge considering the todays fuel prices. Even the Toyota corolla which is more powerful(132hp) and bigger than Aveo5 produces better mileage 27/35 Automatic.
GM is either oblivious to customer requirements and its Competitor vehicle performance or they lack the technology to produce better mileage cars. I think its the latter. Grow up GM!
OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL: Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept for real this time {Autoblog}
Feb 10th 2008 4:34PM Its nice to see a turbo charger boosting the power from
245hp to 300hp on E85. But it takes toll on Gas Mileage.
Can't SAAB reduce E85 fuel flow and produce same 245hp as gasoline without affecting the gas mileage ?
Also direct injection allows higher compression ratio (11.3) for regular gasoline. Not sure why SAAB settled for 10.5. 2008 Cadillac CTS has 11.3:1 compession ratio on regular gasoline for more fuel effciency.
Detroit 2008: GM and Coskata announce worldwide cellulosic ethanol partnership {Autoblog Green}
Feb 9th 2008 4:54PM This sounds exciting!
I think burning coal to generate ethanol should be ok if the pollution is less compared to Oil.
Also it can keep the oil prices in check.
Can Coskata process use raw crushed Oil Shale ? If somehow this is made possible , US Could be 100% independent of Oil.
Everyone knows that US has World largest reserves of Oil shale, even greater than the Oil reserves in the middle east.
