Today is Arbor Day, the proto-Earth Day. Long taken as a tree-planting day (the National Arbor Day Foundation's slogan is "We inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees"), Enterprise Rent-a-Car is honoring the day by sponsoring a 50-million-tree challenge that aims to plant a million trees a year for the next 50 years in national forests in the United States, Canada, and Europe (compare to the much newer and smaller company Zap!'s million tree challenge by 2010).
