2010 Hyundai Elantra Blue improves fuel efficiency to 35 mpg, starts at $14,145

Hyundai has added a new Blue edition of the Elantra compact sedan for the 2010 model year that ups the highway mileage number to 35 mpg with 26 mpg in the city. All 2010 Elantras get engine updates that include lower friction internal components, calibration updates and a smart alternator management system to reduce the parasitic losses. The Blue adds a five-speed manual gearbox with revised ratios to reduce engine speeds on the highway. All other Elantras get a four-speed automatic transmission with an updated torque converter.
