Scania introduces new Euro-5 compliant diesel engines

Swedish truck-maker Scania has introduced a new diesel engine range that meets 2009 Euro-5 emissions standards today. Scania developed a new common rail fuel injection system with Cummins that's used on these new five- and six-cylinder engines. The engines where designed to use a significant amount of exhaust gas recirculation. Feeding exhaust gases back into the combustion chambers reduces the combustion temperatures to help minimize the production of nitrogen oxides.
