Chicago 2009: GM transforms Volt into Jolt, Beat into Skids, Trax into Mudflap
GM didn't see fit to invite Megan Fox to the Chicago Auto Show this week, but the General did bring what it thinks are the real stars of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen: the cars. For our purposes, the Chevy Jolt (née Volt) was the star of the new Autobot line-up, even if the interior reveals it to be most certainly not a Volt and the floppy badges mean this car is not yet ready for a close-up. Still, GM did provide some footage of from the new movie (available to you after the jump) and it's nice to see little details like ... Read more →

GM hopes to make more money on smaller cars 1 year ago on Autoblog Green
The General, along with the rest of the American automakers, has a long established history of making the most profits from the largest vehicles. Small cars from the Detroit 3 have therefore fallen way behind the imports when it comes to desirability. GM Global Design Chief Ed Welburn went so far as ...

Click above for more live shots of the Chevy Beat concept We called the apparent decision by the General to bring the Beat to the U.S. a "no brainer". Unfortunately, that premature news wasn't quite based in fact, as the cool little mini-car will not be coming to American shores. Too bad, 'cause ...

In perhaps the most obvious move of the decade, MarketWatch is reporting that GM will in fact bring the upcoming Chevy Beat to the U.S. market. The Beat was one of a trio of mini-car concepts that appeared at the New York Auto Show in 2007. GM announced last November in Los Angeles that the Beat ...

General Motors enjoyed an advance marketing bonanza for the Chevy Camaro by having it play one of the Autobot heroes in Transformers last summer. People who were otherwise unaware of GM's ponycar revival got a heavy dose of it in the blockbuster, and it has been on everyone's (not just ...
Spy Shots: Possible Chevy Beat mule sighted in U.S. 1 year ago on Autoblog Green
Whether the Chevy Beat mini-car makes it to the U.S. market is still an open question - although if fuel prices keep climbing it seems increasingly likely.
