EnerDel will supply batteries for smart grid project near Tokyo
EnerDel is making moves. The battery maker recently announced it will work on a smart grid project out in Portland, Oregon and today said that it is part of a similar program Tsukuba City, near Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese project uses Mazda2 vehicles (known as Demios in Japan) and starts in March. Mazda announced last week that it would provide three Demios vehicles to test not only the plug-in technology but also ways to share the cars (a la ZipCar) and use renewable energy to charge the vehicles.
