Freightliner launches hybrid motorhome chassis

At the National RV trade show, Freightliner Custom Chassis is introducing what is claimed to be the first hybrid electric Class A motorhome chassis. The ecoFRED (not a typo) chassis is equipped with Eaton's heavy duty hybrid electric system. Prototype motorhomes with the new chassis built by Fleetwood and Winnebago are on display at the show. The chassis is equipped with a Cummins 6.7L diesel engine, an electric motor/generator and a lithium ion battery pack.
