'Plug-In Bay Area' project aims for 100 mpg hybrids
Last year the city of Austin and Austin Energy announced they would provide $1 million as seed money to anyone who developed hybrids capable of 100 miles-per-gallon. Last week, leaders from California's Bay Area officially pledged resources to the offer and called its project, 'Plug-In Bay Area'. Organizers of the project aim to influence government agencies to persuade automakers to accelerate their plug-in hybrid technologies.
