Honda arms London police with largest order of hybrids
Honda Motor Co. has scored another coup for its hybrid program. The Metropolitan Police of London is leasing over a hundred of the automaker's Civic hybrids as part of its "Safer Neighbor" program. States director of Transport Services Stuart Middleton of the Metropolitan Police, the hybrids, "meet police requirements and at the same time fulfil social responsibility to try and make our fleet of vehicles as green as possible. The police, like many other like-minded people, want to do their bit."Related:

I think that's wonderful, unfortunately The United States have not adapted to this idea at all. Or at the very least I have not heard or read any similar ideas for our law enforcement or public transportation companies.
I wish that All US citizens and residents worked together to bring ethanol or any substitute fuel.
Example: in WWII the United States worked together through government and its people. The U.S. gov. asked that we all work together to bring the war to an end faster, by recycling cans, bottles, cardboard boxes, etc. why did they ask? Well what if I told you that a box of your miller light glass bottles can produce a window for a mustang P51D plane. The boy scouts were even influenced to grow small gardens to supply our troops. They also picked up recyclables from neighbors to drop the stuff at a nearby recycling center.
Do you remember that episode when 60 minutes did a special on ethanol? Well the founders or the people who produces the fuel substitute said that corn is not the only ethanol source. They said all veggies have an ethanol source. So then I thought how about tomatoes? I know what you might say why tomatoes? Well did you know tomatoes can grow by the shore. Yup they can I don’t know how but um there was an episode on PBS. A botanist/scientist was studying what if we started to lose water? What vegetables are able to survive with sea water, and 7 times the heat on earth? Well the tomato is a break through, he even plucked a tomato and chewed on it and he said it tasted great.
And now imagine an unlimited source of tomato fuel (if it works, I’m not an expert okay so I could be wrong). All we have to do is take care the tomato, cultivate it, we have the water. And then were set. Oh, I almost forgot a refinery and people like you and me who could make it happen.
Before I leave I’ll say this: Hybrid cars are good for now. They save half our fuel which is great but in the future when the population doubles, we well be in the same dilemma like now once more. That is why we must find an alternate fuel source.
My ideas are endless like how about bio-diesel hybrid cars and trucks huh? Well I hope my comment/post inspires you to think and do wonderful ideas like this one. I hope to see in future that there is a 60% drop on fuel. And if we put our minds and work together, anything is possible. Let’s bring the war of oil to an end. God bless and peace out people.

It’s now widely acknowledged that hybrids provide the middle stepping stone to hydrogen fuel cell cars – our long term goal. Hybrid technology utilises a vehicle that performs in the same way as a conventional car but has the advantage of a reduced emissions footprint.
