Turning mustard seed to biodiesel in Australia
Pardon me, do you have any biodiesel? In Australia, mustard seed may be the next feedstock for the country's growing biodiesel industry. The South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) likes mustard seed biodiesel because it can grow well in "low rainfall regions that cannot support other oilseed crops like canola", the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported. Trent Potter of the SARDI told the ABC that, "Our aim is to try and get material out as quick as we can so we're hopeful that farmers that want to grow oilseeds for biodiesel will have either canola lines that they can grow in medium to high rainfall areas or perhaps mustards that could be grown in the lower rainfall areas."
