Alt Car Expo: Electrum Spyder electric roadster unveiled. We've got pictures

Today was the big day, the unveiling of the new Electrum Spyder. I'll have a another video with Universal Electric Vehicle personnel soon (yesterday's was such a tease, I know), but for now, why not feast your eyes on these pictures. See the rest after the jump.

See how this "final prototype" looks from the show floor? Looks good, huh? Guess what you can see when you step on the other side of the vehicle?
Whoops. The driver's side interior is not quite so "final."

With the Tesla battery pack and AC Propulsion controller + motor these guys should be able to build this off the shelf. Even so, selling the Spyder as a car and not a kit would mean overcoming a number of crash test and certification hurdles. I suspect they're 'drafting' behind Tesla's success here and looking for investors. Good luck to them!

Hey, I saw the car too and it looks “sweet.” Did you hear that pretty whine of the electric drive as it drove it? Shades of those sci-fi movie cars. I say good for the little guy to give Tesla a run for their money…all 60 million of it. The car was described to me as a working prototype, so I’m not too concerned about the unfinished elements. For just under $70,000 I’m sure they’ll have all the pieces in place, the interior finished out and the car running smoothly when it get into full scale production. As far as I’m concerned a little competition never hurt and it will do wonders for the industry as a whole to get more “real” electric cars out there, not just 25 mph commuters. And at least this car will be American made, not manufactured somewhere overseas and sold as if it was an “American” car!

If this car uses polymer lithium batteries rather then lithium ion then not only will it be safer then Tesla - it will also be able to work in 20 F weather.
Also, I hate spaghetti code - and that is exactly how Tesla was built. Reminds of the GM's joke of Microsoft building a car.

AS of today (probably for a while, now) no available website and phone numbers disconnected.
This reeks of SCAM, to me!
