An Inconvenient Truth nominated for Oscar, questioned in Seattle-area school district

Even though An Inconvenient Truth was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature about an hour ago, it's not good enough for Frosty Hardison, a parent of seven who believes the earth is 14,000 years old. Earlier this month, Hardison asked the Federal Way School Board (south of Seattle) to not show the film without presenting an "opposing view." And what opposing view would Hardison like to see? He told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that, "The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD."
In the article, Hardison's wife Gayle makes another terrible argument for not showing the movie: "From what I've seen (of the movie) and what my husband has expressed to me, if (the movie) is going to take the approach of 'bad America, bad America,' I don't think it should be shown at all. If you're going to come in and just say America is creating the rotten ruin of the world, I don't think the video should be shown."
Okaaaay. Hide your head in the sand much?
Progressive Majority in Washington State is organizing an online petition to ask the school district to lift the ban. The school board meets later today to decide.
Laurie David, who co-produced the film and likes to make fun of Michael Crichton, said this is the first incident of its kind at a school. There have been other dustups over the film in other schools, but they weren't driven by parents (see link below).
If you still haven't seen the film, I heard you can watch it online for free...

Great! The secular progressives have invaded the realm of auto ethusiasts.
Please keep Al Gore and the polito-scientists and the Christian wackos off the blog.

Of course, the REALLY inconvienent truth is that Al Gore did more to promote Global Warming than anyone by blocking all attempts to advance the state of Nuclear Power in the US and keep us IN the mostly obsolete non-proliferation treaty.
We could have re-purposed all that clean burning natural gas now being used to power electrical power plants for auto fuel.

The film should more correctly be titled;"A Conveniant Lie"

That movie was a huge lie anyway.
Humans have a very small effect on the planet, and its atmosphere.
Is it a Blizzard outside....Global Warming!
Is it very hot outside......Global Warming!
More Hurricanes.............Global Warming!
Less Hurricanes.............Global Warming!
Al Gore is a douche, he just blams everything on global warming...his movie got all famous because of events like Katrina (in which the vast majority of the destruction was simply because a man-made levvee broke), and the large amount of hurricanes that year...and the very next year (06') we a very low amount...which the idiot still blams on global warming.

It is obvious that sll of these complaints about "an inconvenient truth" are by people who have not actually seen the film. Typical dittoheads, just repeating the standard Limbaugh/ORielly rants.
If they had actually seen the film, they wouldn't have made such silly statements as "(the movie) is going to take the approach of 'bad America, bad America,'".

Even if the whole movie was a lie, (which it isn't), what's better? More pollution or less pollution? It's obvious that the answer is less pollution so we should move in that direction. There will be no harm to the planet if we reduce emissions more than we need to and I don't buy the idea that it will hurt the economy. New technology development will help the economy and provide jobs as it sparks innovation.
And if you think the scientists who claim global warming is real have an agenda, remember that they don't all own stock in companies that create alternative sources of energy and they're probably not shorting oil futures. On the other hand, those who claim global warming is not for real tend to have ties with oil corporations and militarily taking over countries that have oil.

We need to find solutions that are applicable outside the US. That is not nuclear. Look a all the turmoil over Iran's "civilian" program.
