Caetano Rodrigues Miranda and Francesca Baletto of MIT debate the hydrogen economy
As part of a four-part seminar held in January entitled, "Hydrogen: Hype or Hope?", Caetano Rodrigues Miranda and Francesca Baletto give a possible glimpse into the future technical challenges of a hydrogen economy, which include hydrogen production, fuel cell design, storage, distribution and transportation. As has been noted too many times to even try linking, experts and developers are debating whether the so called hydrogen economy will ever come about. There are many challenges, not the least of which is the distribution of the gas in a very high pressure form. As is par for the course in these types of discussions, Miranda and Baletto disagree on whether hydrogen will be the replacement that is necessary for our current use of fossil-fuels or not.

Very good article, Jeremy. Thank you for bringing it to us.
Bottom line is that using Hydrogen to store electrons to power an electric vehicle is 4X LESS efficient than just using batteries. http://www.physorg.com/news85074285.html I agree that all possibilities need to be explored until we discover that we are drilling a dry well. The Hydrogen economy is such a well and the bottom is covered with fool’s gold. It’s time that we stop wasting so much time, intellectual energy and money by chasing the wild H2 goose. http://www.oilcrash.com/articles/h_scam.htm
We need to divert money and intellectual energy to Renewable Electricity Production and Advanced Batteries and/or Ultracapacitors NOW. We also need to increase efficiency by investing in more electric powered public transportation.
What’s left of the world’s petroleum should be saved for industries such as plastics and pharmaceuticals.
Here is the president’s 2008 energy budget for your entertainment. http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/pdf/energy-2008.pdf.

I thought this was going to be like Lenny and Carl fighting, 'I think Phantom Menace sucked the most' 'No, I think Attack of the Clones sucks more'
