JCB Dieselmax speed record car gets another award
Traditionally, diesel engines have been renowned more for their utility than their outright performance. Last year Audi's efforts at LeMans and in the ALMS with the R10 really began to turn that image around in peoples minds, and that is continuing thanks to the efforts of JCB and Peugeot.
In 2006 British construction equipment manufacturer JCB sponsored a successful attempt at capturing the world land speed for diesel powered vehicles. The JCB Dieselmax achieved a two way average of just over 350mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats on August 23, 2006. The Royal Automobile Club recently awarded the Dewar trophy to the JCB team for their achievement, making them only the thirty-ninth recipient of the prize. The RAC first established the Dewar Trophy in 1906, but only awards it in years when they feel there is a deserving recipient.

It was not too long ago when diesel power was considered slow and cumbersome only for hauling large loads. Now it diesel power it turning into speed and more of our sports cars will have diesel power.
