Who's plunked down $100,000 for a Tesla Roadster? These guys...

Elon Musk, the chaiman of Tesla Motors, had to duke it out with Martin Eberhard, Tesla's chief executive, for who will get the first Tesla Roadster. After these two pay full price for the cars they're helping to build, who else gets one of the $100,000 all-electric sportscars? The New York Times has published a few names of celebrities who are on the buyers list: George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Will.i.am (of the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas). No one too surprising, unfortunately.
The names come from a ride NYT auto reviewer Lawrence Ulrich took with Tesla' Darryl Siry in a Roaster through the streets of Manhattan. It must've been a short ride, because those are the only five names Ulrich squeezed out of Siry.

The guy that helped make the Hummv a civilian vehicle is buying a Tesla. The same guy that turned it into a biodiesel hummer rather than drive an efficient vehicle. He wants a Tesla now? Sounds like he is greenwashing himself for another election.
In case you didn't get it... Arnold.

Maybe Arnold wants a Tesla so he can feed it to his pack of rabid Hummers. They need more lithium in their diet.

Arnold may be a bit of a hypocrite but at least he's trying. Despite his ulterior motives, I still prefer the guy to have biodiesel and hydrogen Hummers rather than what preceded them.
If the wife has any sense (and he often blames her for the 'protection' needed in the family fleet), she will trade the Hummers for a Q7 4.2 TDI.

Maybe Arnold is a little like me, (ok, on steroids). One year ago, I didn't think anything about electric cars. Today, after seeing the documentary "WKTEC" I want one. Not because of global warming, but to save money and reduce foreign oil dependency. I know it'll be a while before I can save money, but eventually....
