Freshened 2008 BMW 6-series gets the latest 3.0L diesel

We already brought you the news that BMW is adding their Efficient Dynamics technology to most of their 2008 model lineup, but the Munich firm is also introducing additional changes to the '08 version of the 6-Series coupe. The big coupe and convertible getting some subtle styling tweaks that you will likely miss if look too quickly.
A model is also added to the lineup with the 635d badge. The key there is the final "d" signifying a diesel engine, in this case the 3.0L twin-turbo inline-6. The torquey oil burner will move the two-ton coupe from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 6.3 seconds on its way to a top end of 155mph. In spite of this strong acceleration, the 635d will get a combined mileage rating of 34mpg. Just think of what it could do if BMW adds the Two-Mode hybrid system to this diesel.

Forget the two mode hybrid.
Get the 8 speed automatic in there asap. and get a nice and tall axle ratio.(2.35-635d coupe, 2.56-635d convtible, 2.47-650i coupe, 2.81-650i cnvt))
Top gear could be ~50mph per 1K. The germans could use a supercruise gear, let top speed occur in 7th.
The 630i coupe automatic only weighs 3500 lbs, so where does 4000lbs come from, droptop?
Then you can chip it.

Then pull past 150mph in 8th gear.

BMW 6-seriya-V sport and to smuggle body coupe.
The first "Six" E24 appeared in 1976. It replaced the previous sport-kupe E9 BMW 3.0CS / i and produced before 1989, with some minor external modifications (hard to improve ideal). Shark nose E24 and now looks great. Perhaps no other BMW model was apparently so inspired philosophy of speed and aggressiveness.
Often thought that E24 is the sports version of the body E23 seventh series. It is not. Tested fifth series (E12, and E28) was the inspiration for the design of the chassis and many nodes sixth series.
