What does driving a Toyota Prius say about your love style

Not too long ago, we showed you a video of what some men and women think about the people who drive certain cars. Specifically, what would you think if you were being picked up for a blind date in (blank) car? Of course, the Prius was one of the vehicles chosen for this test. Now, we have an article from Terri Orbuch, Ph.D., where she shares "her thoughts on what car selection reveals about your date (or, hey, even about yourself) and about your romance potential."
Wanna know what she thinks about you if you drive a Toyota Prius, or any other hybrid for that matter?
What the car says about its owner: You guessed it: The person behind the wheel of a Prius chose an environmentally-friendly car because that cause is meaningful to him or her. "This driver is an energetic volunteer or cause-supporter who is often earnest and serious," Dr. Orbuch notes. "This person is wearing his or her priorities on a sleeve (well, on the car...) and is interested in making a statement." Just know that he or she "probably doesn't have a sense of humor when it comes to rainforest preservation, veganism, or Dennis Kucinich," she says. Ultimately, these drivers have good souls, she says: "People appreciate their commitment to their beliefs, even if they may be prone to preaching."
What the car says about its owner's love style: The hybrid driver is likely searching for someone who shares his or her politics and passions. "This driver is probably most apt to meet his or her perfect mate at a political march or a benefit," says Dr. Orbuch. She also suggests that because this person may be a bit uptight in the love department; finding a mate who can loosen him or her up is essential.
Are all you Prius drivers preachy? What if you bought it just to save money on gas?

While a fair amount of what is said above is right on target - the sad truth is that the our Prius savings are a lot less han they were cracked up to be. With about six months of data in, we are saving around 20% on gasoline expenditures.

I drive mine because I like the car.

BULLSHIT!
I'm a 26 year old straight former frat boy male. I drive a prius, wouldn't be caught dead at a political march or benefit, loves catchin me some tail, and most people I know would agree that I have a knack for pissing people off by saying completely insensitive/ politically incorrect things.
I drive the car cause it's roomy like a camry, priced and equiped like a civic, gets the MPG of a mini.
As a side bonus it's good for the environment, but for the most part... on my budget, having to pay for a car is enough, I definitely don't need the added gas payments... and 400 miles off a 10 gallon tank is sweet.
I also live in LA, so they are more prevalent than wherever Dr. Ofidontknowat comes from.

Prius drivers are usually smarmy bastards. Or the Prius itself MADE them smarmy. I'm not sure.

Like Josh above I cry, BULLSHIT.
I bought my hybrid to use less gas, a dwindling supply, to pollute less, and to support a company moving in the right direction.
I don't brag about my fuel economy though one of my in-laws accused me of it. Nope, she asked me, I didn't brag.
The doctor might give better advice and have prospective daters meet and speak with people before making conclusions about their personality.
Take your bogus generalizations and shove it.
There's no science here and this has nothing to do with the green movement.

Rubbish.
I bought my Prius for following reasons:
1. Not many other cars in this price bracket (and size) can be had with such high level of equipment in the UK.
2. I am interested in new technology.
3. Low taxation and saving on fuel (57 mpg combined isn't that bad for an automatic car)
I haven't bought it for 'green' or 'celebrity' status or something. In fact I am frequently labelled as "GW denier" or "Hummer driver" (that's before they see my Prius :)).

Heh.
So we've just seen two out of 7 people who disagree with that sentiment. Congratulations. You've just proven a point about statistics and generalizations.
If 80% of Prius owners are smarmy greenies who put their money where their cause is, that still leaves 20% who *aren't*. But 8 out of 10 times, you'd be right with that assumption, which is why they use terms like "most likely" and "probably".
Also consider the converse: what does driving a red Corvette say about the driver and his or her love style? More than likely, you'd be right about that assumption about 80% of the time too.

Let's see... 4 replies called it BS, 2 replies were from haters, one states that he drives it 'coz he likes it. So the sample size of Prius driver is 5 at best. That's 4 out of 5 speaking against the stereotype. I'd say #5 knows squat about statistics and can't count either.

i'm sure there are plenty of people who fit Dr. Orbuch's greneralizations of Prius drivers and i'm sure there are a number who don't. we all buy cars for transportation, but several differnt emotions and considerations play into the purchase.
for example i plan on buying the fortwo as my daily driver when it is released state-side. first thing i'm doing is slaping a big 'ol republican sticker on the rear glass. i want it because its cheap and gets huge mpg numbers, not so much for the trees. i'm a fiscal conservative so it works. if i want to go swing my d!ck around, i'll pull the XJR out of the garage.

I drive mine to save gas. Averaging 50 mpg and in this world of high gas prices...that's what it's all about.
