Spy Photos: 2009 Ford Fiesta/Verve that's coming to the US!

The first decent spy photos of the production version of Ford's new B-Car have turned up on the interwebs. The 2009 replacement for the Ford Fiesta which may well be renamed the Verve after the concept car that will appear on stage in Frankfurt this week has turned up in camo. Unlike the test model, the prototype is a four door hatchback but elements of the Verve can be seen. The belt-line sweeps upward toward the back and the headlights stretch back along the fender line almost to the base of the A-pillars. The air intake in the front bumper appears almost as large as the concept but a good chunk of it is blocked off by the license plate mount. The production model will probably take to the stage in Geneva next March and go on sale in Europe later in the year, followed by availability in the US.

The Fiesta is the only incentive I have to buy a new car anytime soon and then only if Ford does it right. I have a nice Ranger that gets OK mileage but it's a truck and I don't always need a truck.
What I need is a hatch that can maintain speed on the hills, is reliable, has a great option list and gets over 40 MPG. How Ford does that, I don't really care though Eco-Boost sounds great.
I would be interested in the Focus if Ford gets serious about offering a car to compete with the Cobalt SS.

I havent purchased a Ford in over 14 years, however with such a beautiful car inside and out and very good expected mileage 31/39 wow, and a price with basic good options to be about 18500-19000, I would definately consider purchasing it!
I cant believe i may actually go back to an American car company :) haha
Good work Ford ;)

Message to Alan Mulally: Bring it to the US, and I will probably buy it. Bring it to the US with a high-mileage turbo-diesel underhood, and I'll ORDER one with payment in full!
Please bring this car over and dump the Focus ASAP!

They made it a 4 door, good move. Too bad you can't tell from the camo how it looks.

I think it will sell well if the price is right.

With Ford's logic these days - they probably will call it the Pinto, reasoning "People are familiar with the Pinto" - Like how they changed the name of the 500 to the Taurus. Now I've owned two Tauruses and I've liked them a lot - but they let that car go soooo long without any real update that the name Taurus came to be associated with an out-of-date, boring car that you might see at a car rental place. So - in all their wisdom, they change the 500's name (and the Freestyle-a great name) to Taurus. Crazy.
So I'll believe it when I see it as far as this car coming to the US, especially with the high mileage diesel.
I hope Ford gets the message to get some of their great European product over here, and fast.
