Go with Danny on a quick test drive of the Kewet Buddy in the UK

Right at the beginning of AutoblogGreen, we discovered that Danny Fleet was one of the most vocal proponents of electric cars over in the UK. His website, Danny's Contentment, describes driving EVs through London streets and other realities of life using the small all-electric vehicles that are currently available. Danny recently took a look at the Kewet Buddy EV, a Norwegian electric car that might be making it's way onto British soil. Danny shot some footage of the Buddy for his vlog, and wanted to invite AutoblogGreen readers along for a ride through the streets. He likes the car, and feels that all the space above his head is "surreal" for a small EV.
You can watch the video here and see high-resolution images of the Kewet Buddy in the gallery below.

Ironically, there does not seem to be room to actually carry your golf clubs in one of these.

just another g-whiz then really, i just dont see the point of these things, they are slowing the progress of possibly good electric cars by creating a steriotype of this sort of thing. i bet its very unsafe (just imagine sitting in a queue at traffic lights and a truck hit the back of you, you may as well be sitting in a cardboard box), needs charging every 100 miles, is very slow, uncomfortable, and just wont ever catch on.
Why do they bother?

According to the Kewet website, "The luggage compartment is designed around two cases of beer – or 6-8 bags of groceries."
As for getting hit by a truck, it beats a bicycle.

I positively agree that vehicles are very unsafe. That is why I have upgraded to a tank that drive to work avery day. It would be so much safer if everyone drove a tank... Wait, I guess I would have to get a bigger tank. Then I would be safe... Sure...
Seriously, I'm not proposing that everyone drive one of these little electric cars, but I do think that there should be a limit on the mass of vehicles on the road. There was a time when shipping was done on trains and only local delivery happened on our highways. Now everyone has to drive a big truck to feel safe because of all of the big trucks driving around. How about we limit the highways to cars and make trucks with a larger mass go slower or ship their freight with trains? would'nt this make us considerably safer and use less fuel to boot?
