AutoblogGreen looking for new bloggers. You interested?

As our frequent tipsters and comment contributors know, AutoblogGreen is a bit of a co-operative effort. Thanks to our growing readership and the increased post count we'd like to bring them, we're looking for new bloggers to join us on the writing side of the screen. In short, we once again need more writers who love cars and green car technology (and have the chops to convey that enjoyment to others in snappy blog posts). I've put the full application details after the jump and am looking forward to adding new voices to our little community here.
Here are the application details:
A good candidate must exhibit:
- Prolific knowledge of the auto industry and/or green auto scene
- Ability to write with wit, concision and authority
- Consistent schedule
- Self motivation
- A demonstrated passion for autos and the environment - whether you prefer "green" or "blue" won't be taken into account :)
- Possess a fast computer (laptops are best) and fast Internet connection
- Own a decent digital camera
- Have the software and knowledge to create and manipulate photos
- Are available to blog on an almost daily basis
- Keep a valid drivers license
- A subject line with your full name
- Your full contact information including physical address, email, daytime/evening phone numbers, IM user IDs
- Brief bio of yourself telling us why you're the right blogger for the job
- Three sample posts written in the AutoblogGreen style. One of these posts must be about a car or technology announced at this year's Detroit Auto Show. Pretend you're introducing to the world the Provoq or Ecoboost, for example. We want to see your passion for (or criticism of) new products. The subjects of the other two posts are up to you, but should be ABG material
- A list of car(s) you currently own or a description of how you use alternate transportation
- Three suggestions on how to improve AutoblogGreen
- Your nomination for 2007's best auto (or green car trend) of the year and why
Deadline is a week from tomorrow; by the end of the day on Wednesday, January 16.

New to this, and have a question about AFS. Are they claiming you can put their system in ANY vehicle, or does it have to be a hybrid?
Thanks, DG

Could you guys hire someone who doesn't just write uneducated, often off topic, and uninformed posts usually consisting of a crummy video?
Or at least make sure the candidate understands the difference between parallel and series when referring to hybrid drivetrains.

Harvest,
Take it easy bro. Very few posts are "off topic" and please point me to a website that DOESN'T have crummy video. Personally, I like the fact that blogs can now embed youtube videos along with commentary.
You want perfect video? Get a DVD player.
Better yet, step up and submit a post or two. If it's good, I'm sure they'll use it. So long as it's not "uneducated" or "uninformed".

GreatGreenHammer,
Yea, that was a bit harsh. ABG does do a great job of reporting on green automotive news, in fact the best of all the sites I've come across. I was more or less trying to refer to a particular blogger.

Just a suggestion, folks. Try to get some japanese- and french-speaking folks on board. Maybe Norgweigian and Germans as well.
There is a lot going on in EV scene at least in these countries, and news often dont make it to english media at all.

I've got a pretty good handle on how stuff works and the state of the technology, but I get my info from blogs like this one. One of these days, hopefully, I will buy an EV or do a conversion and get me some sweet pv or wind charging systems going. That would be uber-cool. If I do I'll post a link. Meanwhile, y'all keep fighting the good fight. Okie out.

I'd love to help you vet your coverage of legislative actions in congress (progress, lack of, and why, and what we can do to change that).
I don't have a clue about vehicle tech details, and barely ever blog as you see:
http://dotcommodity.dailykos.com/
so I could not presume to write for you, but you do get things wrong in your coverage of what's happening legislatively, which I could help you with. Just editing.

ABG has lots of good posts, but those are muddled up by various out of topic (It's Friday!) and poorly researched posts. So the last thing this blog needs is MORE posts. What you need is more quality and focus on autos, not more quantity.
More bloggers sounds like a step in the wrong direction (unless you get someone who really knows what they are talking about).
I did see on the Weblogs page that bloggers get paid something for their postings - I'm sure it's not much, but that might explain the many out-of-topic wacky stuff that often clogs things up here.
If you're going to get more bloggers, could you at least put a limit on the number of posts per week per blogger? That might get the quality and relevance back up. Focus on green autos again!
But what you really need is an editor, OR at least start a policy for blogger to edit each other's posts.

I agree with Karkus, I stopped reading treehugger because they started posting too much, I couldn't keep up.
