VC firms bet on Th!nk

As ABG reported earlier today, Th!nk has announced it will be coming to the U.S. market. More information has come out on Reuters via Th!nk's venture capital partners Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Rockport Capital. Ray Lane, a managing partner at Kleiner and chairman of Th!nk North America, said today "In a couple of years, we hope to be selling 30-40-50,000 cars per year." The report states that Th!nk intends to launch the vehicle in 2009 at a sub-$25,000 price point.
Th!nk's VC partners' high profile participation in the electric car maker's U.S. launch is evidence of the greater attention being paid to battery electric technologies after an initial preference for biofuel development.

Delighted that think is coming to North America.
Wonder if the Canadian government will swamp it with red tape like they did the Galaxy. Their plant and all moved to Pakistan. BTW, Pakistan is asking for re-entry to the *Commonwealth*. Good!
Think has a power pack deal with A123 so that may be part of the deal. No point shipping batteries to and from Europe.
I read that Ener1 [one of your 12 batt-makers reviewd earlier], has a deal with Think also.
Anyhow . . This may be a REAL tip for you, investors?? Ever heard of RevoltTechnology?

Be sure to look over their few PDF pages.
This may not be the WHOLE truth, but impressive never the less. Is that graph REAL?
** Zn-air offers twice the energy per weight and three times the energy per volume. Check the 14 page Pdf/ graph.

Zinc air is not new
It did not work before. Why?
Rechargeability is the key
Zinc dendrite formation
Revolutionary breakthrough by ReVolt Technology
Microscopic localization of zinc
Humidity management
Bi-functional air-electrode
Highest energy density in class: potential of 2 times Li-Ion energy density, longer runtime (smart phone)
Competitive cost (Abundant Zn supply: 12 mio t/year, Li: 15.000 t/year)
Completely safe behaviour, self limiting reaction in cell, no flammable components
Environmentally benign, completely non toxic materials
Zn electrode
Covered by 2 patents
2 patents granted
3 patents pending
6-9 patents in filing process
More patents in the pipeline **

Hey thanks for the great blog, I love this stuff. I don’t usually do much for Earth Day but with everyone going green these days, I thought I’d try to do my part.
I am trying to find easy, simple things I can do to help stop global warming (I don’t plan on buying a hybrid). Has anyone seen that www.EarthLab.com is promoting their Earth Day (month) challenge, with the goal to get 1 million people to take their carbon footprint test in April? I took the test, it was easy and only took me about 2 minutes and I am planning on lowering my score with some of their tips.
I am looking for more easy fun stuff to do. If you know of any other sites worth my time let me know.

Hey, anyone who wants to spend nearly $70k in ten years of ownership of a vehicle that does 0-50 in 16 seconds, be my guest.

I'm distributing fliers promoting upcoming EVs; if you're interested, you could print some off and hand them out.

Good to see a more practical EV coming to the US.

the $25K number isn't exactly the cost if they are still having you pay hundred$ every month for the right to use the battery. They need to have an option to buy the battery outright.
