Airlines raise prices to cover rising cost of fuel
Yes, the price of a gallon of gas has risen considerably in the past year. How, though, would you feel if the increase had been ninety percent? That would put a dent in your pocketbook, right? That's exactly what has happened to the price of jet fuel. In an effort to stem losses, major carriers such as American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have raised their round-trip airfare prices between ten and sixty dollars, depending on the length of the flight. International flights will carry the largest surcharge, while shorter flights will be hit with smaller amounts. In related news, Boeing has delayed the release of its upcoming 737 replacement. Introduced way back in the sixties, the jet has sold more than 6,000 units and is a staple in the industry. Those same high fuel prices are causing Boeing to go back to the drawing board, though, as airlines are demanding that the airplane manufacturer make technological improvements, many of which need to be invented first, in order to cut fuel usage.

I'd rather the airlines raise prices than add "fuel surcharges" and silly fees, like for checking the first bag.
(on the other hand, what they should really do is just weigh you and all your bags and charge based on that)
Hopefully this will get some people back to riding trains and buses, especially for shorter trips. Heck, even driving is better in terms of CO2 (as long as you're filling up your car with people).

Since the Cost of a Mag Lev is around the same price per mile as a 10 lane highway. around 1.5 million permile if you wonder.
I would love to see a System of mag legs connecting super major routs like SD LA to LV and LA to bay area. then have feeder highspeed rails connecting those. We have the ability to make mag levs compete with turbo props for speeds and take up alot less energy.
China has a mag lev that breaks 300 MPH. Theres no reason why they cant break 400. They travel on separate raised tracks make very little noise only use power on the section that the train is on.
